The Handmaid’s Tale fans ‘work out’ Serena twist as she takes Nichole from June’s grasp
The Handmaid’s Tale fans are convinced Serena will betray June following their shocking season five reunion.
Fans are eagerly awaiting the return of Hulu’s acclaimed dystopian drama, The Handmaid’s Tale after it came to an end in November 2022.
The drama followed June Osborne (played by Elisabeth Moss) as she tried to escape captivity from the totalitarian regime of Gilead.
Although she had failed on multiple occasions and was brutally punished, June was finally able to become a free woman in season four.
Despite her freedom in Canada, June struggled to return to normal life after all the trauma she’d endured and only got worse after her captor Serena Joy (Yvonne Strahovski) was freed from custody and living in close proximity.
However, the tables soon turned for Serena when she looked to June for help after she realised Gilead was grooming her to become a Handmaid.
Season five took a shocking turn during the finale when June was forced to escape Canada with her toddler Nichole.
As she entered the packed train, June decided to follow the sound of a crying baby, only to discover it was Serena and her newborn also escaping Canada.
With the two women reunited and running from the wrath of Gilead, fans anticipated where the storyline would go.
One viewer u/ackchanticleer took to a fan page on Reddit and predicted: “Serena will end up taking care of Nicole because June will not be able to ignore the need to go back to Toronto or Gilead to hook up with either Luke or Nick to rescue Hannah. So she’ll ask Serena to take care of Nicole [sic].”

June was also eager to save her eldest daughter Hannah Bankole (Jordana Blake) from Gilead and was working with her friends to help free the youngster.
But with June away from her loved ones, she could take matters into her own hands and head back to Gilead, leaving Serena to kidnap Nichole.
In response, U/mysterious_calucci disaggreed@: “That would be horrible. No. Just no … Serena doesn’t deserve anything, especially not to take care of the baby she wanted to steal.”
A conflicted u/KendrAs14 added: “I want you to be wrong lol but there is def a reason they are setting June and Serena up as basically allies. I really don’t want Serena to have a redemption arc she doesn’t deserve it”
Whereas U/Katecrime shared: “I completely agree!! I’m downright insulted by the narrative they’re pushing, namely that ‘because Serena gave birth’, she’s no longer a terrible person.”
U/ ZeroStreaming raged: “I demand that it doesn’t happen. NO. Never. No. IT CANNOT BE. I don’t know if I will be able to sleep at night just imagining such a scenario.”
U/Anxious_Tax_5624 fumed: “I absolutely hate that it looks like they are trying to give Serena a redemption arc.”
While a sixth viewer argued: “There is no way June is going to be able to just chill in Hawaii while Hannah is still in Gilead.”
