The Incredible Way ‘Gen V’ Is Connected to ‘The Boys’

The new spinoff could give us a major hint about ‘The Boys’ season 4!

In July 2019, Amazon Prime dipped their toes into the comic book-turned-TV show world when they debuted their (then) newest series The Boys.

Based on the comics of the same name, the show centered around two groups living in a world filled with individuals who are highly recognized for their superpowers. While one group (titled “The Seven”) work for the corrupt Vought International and hide their own equally immoral behaviors, the other team (called “The Boys”) try to take them down and bring some semblance of peace to the world.

The series quickly gained a following, and it spanned three successful seasons, with a fourth on the way. But the series also expanded with a number of different spin-offs — the latest, Gen V ,hitting Amazon Prime on September 29. Like its predecessor, this show follows a group of superheroes making questionable choices. The only difference is, these people are college students, studying at the fictional Godolkin University so they can learn how to tap into their still raw superpowers.

While the two shows are seemingly taking place in the same world, some fans may be wondering the same thing we are: Is there a possibility that Gen V and The Boys are more connected than just being in the same TV franchise? Surprisingly, there are more ties between the two than expected …

Is Gen V connected to The Boys?

Aside from both shows living in the same universe, The Boys showrunner Eric Kripke revealed to Deadline in July 2022 that the show is connected to Gen V.

“We’re doing our best to design a universe that sees some of the issues and storylines in season three [of ‘The Boys’] hand off to the first season in [‘Gen V’],” he explained to the outlet. “There are certain things that are happening at that school that are both in reaction to Season 3 of The Boys.”

As far as how The Boys and Gen V are tied, Eric shared that there will be some Easter eggs that connect the two in unique ways. Aside from a presidential campaign and school happenings, fans can expect a few characters to make a cameo, including Soldier Boy (Jensen Ackles). What’s more, Gen V’s plot line will also be a jump off point for events that will follow in The Boys season 4.

“[There are] some new storylines that are happening in that season of the spinoff that we have to pick up and take into Season 4 of the show,” he added.

While this is only the beginning, looks like we’ll have to tune in to Gen V to see any more juicy tidbits!
