The Rings Of Power Season 2 Promises Intense Battles As Sauron Threatens Middle Earth
Amazon Prime’s magnum opus, The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, kept fans guessing about the true identities of its two most mysterious characters in the first season. As the show gears up for its second season, it is set to dive deep into the dramatic changes that Sauron and the Stranger will bring to Middle earth. Appearing at San Diego Comic Con (SDCC), the massive cast launched a thrilling new trailer, giving preview of what to expect. The footage starts with Sauron and it teases how the powerful rings attract elves and dwarves, including Galadriel who accepts the ring despite Elrond’s warnings and sequences of epic battles. Fans also get glimpses of Balrog, Sea Worm and a giant spider, alongside numerous creatures, including a giant talking tree.
Based on JRR Tolkien’s epic saga, the series takes us back thousands of years before The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings. At SDCC, the iconic Hall H was packed with stars and creators, including Morfydd Clark, Charlie Vickers, Robert Aramayo, Benjamin Walker, Ismael Cruz Cordova, Charles Edwards, Cynthia Addai-Robinson, Sophia Nomvete, Tyroe Muhafidin, Daniel Weyman, Megan Richards, Lloyd Owen, Ema Horvath and Sam Hazeldine.
As per the official synopsis, “In Season Two of The Rings of Power, Sauron has returned. Cast out by Galadriel, without an army or ally, the rising Dark Lord must now rely on his own cunning to rebuild his strength and oversee the creation of the Rings of Power, which will allow him to bind all the peoples of Middle-earth to his sinister will.”
Season 2 takes the story even further, as it puts their most precious characters into deeper trouble. As the world around them becomes darker and more dangerous, everyone, from elves and dwarves to wizards and Harfoots, will face new challenges. Friendships will be tested and kingdoms start to fall apart. Despite the struggles, heroes will fight harder than ever to protect their bonds.
According to the press release, The Rings of Power’s first season was a major hit, as it was viewed by over 100 million fans globally. On its premiere day alone, the series successfully captured the attention of more than 25 million viewers, making it the most watched premiere ever on Prime Video.
Season 2 of the fantasy series is scheduled to release on Amazon Prime Video on August 29. Just like the first season, new episodes will be released every week.
