The Rookie: Feds Season 2 Chances Addressed By Star Niecy Nash
The Rookie: Feds star Niecy Nash addresses the possibility of the ABC series being renewed for season 2, as its fate is currently up in the air.
The Rookie: Feds star Niecy Nash has opened up about the possibility of the ABC crime procedural being renewed for season 2. A spinoff of The Rookie starring Nathan Fillion, The Rookie: Feds follows Nash’s Simone Clark, a woman who becomes a special agent for the FBI at the age of 48. While ABC has renewed The Rookie for season 6, the fate of The Rookie: Feds is still up in the air.
Speaking with TVLine, Nash admits she doesn’t know if The Rookie: Feds season 2 will happen. However, she states that, if it does, she would be open to coming back as Simone. Check out what Nash had to say below:
I haven’t heard anything, I’m the same as you. I’m a lady in waiting. I don’t know the fate of that show. But I do know that in the same article I read that said that it was on the bubble, it also said that I was one of the most sought-after actresses at this time. So we’ll see. But I love my job at Rookie: Feds. I love the people that I work with, so being able to do another season of it would be like heaven to me.
Will The Rookie: Feds Be Renewed For Season 2?
When ABC renewed nine shows in mid-May, The Rookie: Feds joined comedy series Home Economics in renewal limbo. While nether show has been renewed for another season as of yet, they haven’t been canceled either. Nash’s excitement to continue work on The Rookie: Feds is hopeful, but doesn’t guarantee the spinoff will be renewed for season 2.
The Rookie: Feds has had multiple crossover events with The Rookie, showing the two series are heavily entwined with one another in their small shared universe. In addition, The Rookie: Feds has been gaining viewership over time, with the season finale getting 2.98 million live viewers compared to the series premiere’s 2.28 million live viewers. It seems the show is only gaining in popularity, which could be a good sign for The Rookie: Feds season 2. Its availability on streaming also helps with this, as more people could catch up with it over time.
However, it may be some time before The Rookie: Feds season 2 is confirmed if it’s still on the table. Due to the ongoing writers strike, ABC won’t air any new scripted shows in the fall, which includes The Rookie season 6. While it’s still possible The Rookie: Feds season 2 will happen, it may be quite some time before there’s any news about the show’s fate.
