The Rookie Season 7 Trailer Reveals First Look At The Cast’s Action-Packed Return
The Rookie season 7 trailer reveals a first look at the cast’s action-packed return, with Nathan Fillion’s John Nolan taking center stage once again. The Rookie season 6 finale featured a major cliffhanger, with Monica (Bridget Regan) letting both Oscar (Matthew Glave) and Bailey’s (Jenna Dewan) ex-husband, Jason (Steve Kazee), out of prison. This sets the stage for more drama and danger in the upcoming episodes, albeit with some time for the group to prepare for the arrival of familiar threats. Even so, it appears season 7 will be dealing with the dangerous aftermath of what transpired.
Now, ABC (via TV Promos) has released the first trailer for The Rookie season 7, which sees Nolan and other cops on the LAPD return for another action-packed batch of episodes. The group, featuring Tim Bradford (Eric Winter), Nyla Harper (Mekia Cox), and Wade Grey (Richard T. Jones) among other cops preparing to raid a house full of criminals alongside a SWAT team. The trailer then cuts to new scenes, including Nolan and Celina Juarez (Lisseth Chavez) on patrol, Lucy Chen (Melissa O’Niel) speaking about being a cop, and the group finding a buried body.
The final sequence sees Nolan on a scooter, running into someone trying to escape him in order to knock them down. As he gets off the scooter, he quips to Juarez, “work smarter, not harder.” The trailer ends by confirming the season 7 will premiere on Tuesday, January 7, 2025 on ABC. What The Rookie’s New Trailer Says About Season 7
The Rookie season 7 trailer doesn’t reveal too much about the upcoming episodes, other than the group will be dealing with some dangerous criminals and smaller offenders as usual. However, some areas of intrigue include a body being dug up in a field, alongside Nolan and Juarez seemingly getting involved in a vehicle chase while out on patrol. The trailer also doesn’t feature Dewan’s Bailey, which makes sense, as the actor’s real-life pregnancy will be preventing her from showing up in the first few episodes.
Despite this lack of focus on larger, expected storylines, the new trailer still offers plenty of hints about the everyday struggles the team will be going through heading into season 7. As their smaller attempts at stopping criminals indicate, Monica, Oscar, and Jason are still far-off threats they’ll simply have to keep an eye out for while dealing with more pertinent criminals. Whether the cast of The Rookie will be prepared for the returning antagonists isn’t entirely clear just yet. However, their skills mean they’ll likely be able to weather whatever comes their way.
Our Take On The Rookie Season 7 Trailer
Although the newest trailer doesn’t offer any concrete updates on the overarching threats in the show, it does reveal a strong return to form as characters deal with different crimes throughout their day-to-day work. However, it’s clear The Rookie still has plenty of long-term stories still left to be told, likely teased once they grow closer to happening. For now, however, it seems the show’s return will include plenty of familiarity before Monica and her two breakouts arrive on the scene.
