This Breaking Bad Spinoff Idea Is So Depressing We’re Worried It’s Actually Popular
A show with a premise like that shouldn’t exist even in our minds.
It is not often that a spinoff is considered better than the parent series, but Better Call Saul managed to become such an exception. Created after the success of the iconic Breaking Bad, it stole the hearts of many fans and even outdid the parent show.
And while there are rumors that there will be another Breaking Bad spinoff, especially since El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie received so many great reviews, there is one (unfortunately popular) idea for the new show that should never come to life.
The fans seem to want a spinoff led by RJ Mitte’s character, Walt Jr. But this time, they want to see him portrayed as a strong villain, following in his father’s footsteps. Against all logic, fans thought that Heisenberg’s son should be the next kingpin of Albuquerque.
Before Walter was killed, he managed to provide his son with a trust fund so huge that it would have been enough to live a long life or… become a drug lord or some other kind of criminal. At least that was what the fans assumed, joke or not.
However, the show’s creator, Vince Gilligan, seems to think that such a series would be too depressing.
“It would be a sad tribute to the show,” he said in an interview with Variety, and we couldn’t agree more.
While it might be intriguing to find out what happened to Walt’s family after he died, there’s no way a story with Flynn being worse than his father is the best choice. That would absolutely destroy all the lessons that could be learned from Breaking Bad’s five seasons.
Still, it seems like the fans really want a show about Walter Jr. Even if he’s not the villain.
“Flynn getting dragged into the criminal underworld in some way. Maybe criminals think he knows how to make pure meth, given his father’s reputation, so they go after him. Or maybe he winds up working with the DEA, thanks to his connections to Hank, and winds up involved in some shit? Or a combination of the two ideas,” Redditor JokerFaces2 said.
So we’d better believe that Walt Jr. got the happy life he truly deserved. And his father wouldn’t stay in his way anymore.
