Wednesday Season 2 Story Tease Suggests Plenty Of Addams Family Mansion Scenes
Netflix’s Wednesday costume designer Colleen Atwood teases that season 2 may feature Morticia and the Addams family mansion more prominently.
Wednesday costume designer Colleen Atwood reveals that the Addams Family Mansion may play a more prominent role in season 2. Unlike the Charles Addams cartoon series, Tim Burton’s Wednesday pushes the senior Addams family members (Morticia and Gomez) to the background, with the duo making appearances in only two episodes. Instead, the Netflix show follows Wednesday (Jenna Ortega) navigating Nevermore Academy and its field of shape-shifting, murderous monsters.
In an interview with Variety, Atwood revealed some of the directions she plans to take for Wednesday season 2. She teased that Morticia will have more looks, including her costumes in the Addams Family Mansion. Read her quote and watch the video below:
Season 2 she’ll have a lot of looks, so it’ll be really fun to see what Morticia does when she’s you know out of the dress and into around-the-house looks.
What Does The Wednesday Story Tease Mean For Season 2
Morticia is typically known for her black, floor-length gown, which she sports in episodes 1 and 5, “Wednesday’s Child Is Full of Woe” and “You Reap What You Woe,” during trips to Nevermore. While it is hard to picture Morticia electing a more casual outfit, perhaps an at-home Morticia would choose a more relaxed black dress in her arsenal. Either way, the fact that Atwood emphasizes the variety of looks Morticia will have suggests that her character may play a more influential role in season 2.
Furthermore, the Wednesday season 1 finale showed Ortega’s character leaving Nevermore for the remainder of the semester. On the drive home, texts from a stalker pop up on her phone, showing images of Wednesday taken from a distance. Season 2 could see Wednesday mystery-solving in this break from Nevermore, focusing on the stalker’s motive and identity. Along with this break, Wednesday may conduct this investigation right at home. This is in contrast to season 1, in which the mansion was only briefly featured in episode 1.
Although Wednesday’s renewal was confirmed this past January, an official release date has not been shared. While it was hoped new episodes would be out by early 2024, that seems unlikely to happen due to the ongoing SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes. While the wait for season 2 will continue, at least there will be clues to keep an eye on as more details unveil about Wednesday.
