Why Chozen’s Return Could Be The Key To The Mr. Miyagi Mystery In Cobra Kai Season 6
Though Chozen Toguchi has left the Valley, The Karate Kid Part II villain could be the key to figuring out the mystery about Mr. Miyagi when Cobra Kai returns. Somewhat abruptly, Chozen took a step back from the story, disappearing after the ending of episode 3. Apparently, he’s gone back to Okinawa to see Kumiko, leaving his role in the Sekai Taikai tournament and the wider narrative in question.
Absent in both the fourth and fifth episodes, Chozen wasn’t in the company of Johnny and Daniel’s Miyagi-do dojo when they arrived at the tournament in Barcelona. However, that doesn’t mean he won’t participate. For now, it’s unclear how long Cobra Kai plans to leave Chozen in Okinawa, but given his efforts to get the students ready for the competition, it’s hard to imagine him walking away for good. Rather, it’s more likely that Chozen’s trip to Okinawa is both temporary and a major plot point that will become relevant later.
Chozen’s Return To The Valley In Cobra Kai Could Lead To Answers About Mr. Miyagi
Given other events taking place in the series, there’s a good chance that Chozen’s time in Okinawa isn’t just about providing him closure with Kumiko or setting up a happy ending for his character. After all, it’s important to note that Chozen has an important connection to Mr. Miyagi. Chozen’s uncle and karate instructor, Sato Toguchi, was a martial arts rival to Mr. Miyagi decades ago. Perhaps through Sato’s possessions, Chozen could find the remaining pieces of the puzzle related to Mr. Miyagi’s supposed crime and participation in the Sekai Taikai.
Sato and Miyagi grew up together, so their relationship predates whatever happened to him in the United States in the 1940s. Since they were enemies, he presumably wouldn’t have had any knowledge of Mr. Miyagi’s activities in the United States, but could have learned of them afterward. Mr. Miyagi and Sato reconciled after The Karate Kid Part II, so it’s possible that Mr. Miyagi confided in him later. Alternatively, Mr. Miyagi could have told his secrets to Yukie, whose letters from him wound up with Kumiko (as revealed by Cobra Kai season 3).
The Truth About Mr. Miyagi Could Involve A Bombshell About Kim-Sun-Yung
The prospect of Chozen’s connections to Sato or Kumiko facilitating a major reveal about Mr. Miyagi is made even stronger by the notion that Chozen’s backstory is already relevant to Cobra Kai season 6. After all, it’s known from season 5 that Sato had some sort of adversarial relationship with Kim Sun-Yung, Kreese’s mentor and the mysterious villain backing him in the Sekai Taikai. With that being the case, it’s certainly within the realm of possibility that Sato, Kim Sun-Yung, and Mr. Miyagi are all linked together in some way, which could mean that Daniel’s sensei has even bigger Cobra Kai ties than he ever imagined.
