Yellowjackets Season 3 May Have Just Revealed A Major Character Death In The Wilderness
An increase in brutal deaths during Yellowjackets season 3 is expected as the teens become more feral and desperate in the wilderness, and a new image may have already spoiled one character’s demise. Yellowjackets season 2 ended with the tragic death of Juliette Lewis’ Natalie in the present timeline while her teenage self was elected the Antler Queen in the past, with the finale’s stories containing parallels for the adults and teens through their dangerous sacrificial card game. After a nearly two-year hiatus, Yellowjackets season 3 finally returns on February 14, 2025 with a two-episode premiere. While the major plot points of the new season are still under wraps, cast and crew interviews as well as a new batch of stills have given some intriguing hints as to what will happen in the aftermath of season 2’s twists. One new image from Yellowjackets season 3 is particularly interesting, as the facial reactions of teenage Natalie and Misty to some off-screen figure in the wilderness hint that a major character could be dying in the upcoming episodes.
Natalie & Misty’s Reactions In New Yellowjackets Season 3 Image Hints At Coach Ben’s Death
In addition to images that show the present-day survivors mourning Natalie, adult Misty burning a picture of the survivors, and the teens beginning another round of their Queen of Hearts card sacrifice ritual, one notable still features the teens gathered around Taissa as they look shocked at something off-screen. In the image, Natalie and Misty are the only main characters who really look devastated, with Taissa holding a gun in the center while the others have more neutral reactions. It’s unclear what exactly they’re reacting to, but Natalie and Misty’s faces hint that they’re looking at someone being killed or tortured.
Considering there’s only one character who Natalie and Misty would be comparably devastated about with the others being less impacted, Yellowjackets may have subtly confirmed who they’re looking at. After ruling out the Yellowjackets characters present in the image, Natalie and Misty are the only ones who have a close bond with or deeper feelings for Coach Ben, so their specific visceral reactions make it likely that the teens are looking at him off-screen. Considering Ben abandoned the teens and set their cabin ablaze, they might be getting revenge in Yellowjackets season 3, despite Natalie and Misty’s affection for him.
Coach Ben Surviving Beyond Yellowjackets Season 3 Would Be A Huge Shock
Though it’s unconfirmed whether the teens are really watching Coach Ben die in that image, his death is expected to happen in Yellowjackets season 3. Ben was vehemently opposed to the teens’ descent into cannibalism in Yellowjackets season 2, which was a major reason why he burned down the cabin. He fled because he now believed the teens were at the point of no return; not only had they accepted eating one another, but they would brutally sacrifice the others in order to survive and appease the supernatural forces of the wilderness.
With Coach Ben being on his own after the season 2 finale, it was already a shock that he survived the winter. Now, as he’ll inevitably find himself face-to-face with the teens again, they’ll likely want revenge for burning down the cabin, or decide that he’ll be their next meal and wilderness sacrifice. Even if Ben somehow survives Yellowjackets’ wilderness, the others would still need to kill him to keep him quiet about their murders and cannibalism, dooming him regardless. Therefore, Ben is at the bottom of the list of those most likely to make it beyond Yellowjackets season 3.
