Yellowjackets Theory Reveals A Secret Relative Twist That Makes A Season 2 Death Way More Devastating

Yellowjackets theory argues that one character is secretly a child of the survivors, which would make a season 2 death even more devastating. Since it first debuted in 2021, there have been many theories about the show’s various mysteries and the connections between Yellowjackets‘ timelines.

Yellowjackets season 3 answers some major mysteries, including the identity of Pit Girl, who killed Lottie Matthews (Simone Kessell), and who the Antler Queen is in the pilot episode. However, there are still big mysteries to solve in Yellowjackets season 4, one of which could be related to a secret relative.

Lisa Could Be The Child Of Natalie And Travis

This Could Be Revealed In Yellowjackets Season 4

While speaking with TV Insider, the teenage Vanessa “Van” Palmer actor, Liv Hewson, was asked if they thought Lisa (Nicole Maines) could be the daughter of Natalie Scatorccio (Juliette Lewis) and Travis Martinez (Andrés Soto). Lisa is first introduced in season 2 as a member of Lottie’s cult.

Lisa partly joins the cult to escape the controlling mother who raised her, but some fans think that Lisa is the biological child of Natalie and Travis. Lisa appears to be in her early twenties and the present-day timeline is set 25 years after Natalie, Travis, and the other survivors are rescued.

This means Lisa could’ve been born in the early years after the survivors returned to civilization, but Natalie and Travis chose to give the baby up, likely due to the trauma, addiction, and many issues they were grappling with as individuals and with their relationship.

Hewson thinks the theory is “cool” and expresses that they hope it happens so Maines can return in Yellowjackets season 4After appearing in every Yellowjackets season 2 episode, Lisa only appears in one season 3 episode, where Misty Quigley (Christina Ricci) questions her about Lottie’s death.

This Theory Makes Natalie’s Death Even More Tragic

Lisa Accidentally Kills Natalie In The Season 2 Finale

The adult Natalie dying in Yellowjackets season 2 at Lisa’s hands is already tragic. During their time with Lottie’s cult, Lisa and Natalie become close friends and help each other grow, which makes it all the worse that Lisa is the one who accidentally kills her.

If she is the biological child of Natalie and Travis, though, this tragedy becomes even more devastating, as it would mean Lisa kills her own mother. Before, during, and after Yellowjackets‘ plane crash in the wilderness, Natalie suffers a great deal, making it all the crueler that she is killed by her daughter.

This twist is heartbreaking on its own, and becomes even worse when considering the deep bond that Natalie and Lisa form. Misty spends much of season 3 grieving and struggling in the aftermath of losing Natalie. Lisa reveals she has also gone through her own grieving process, but that was as Natalie’s friend, and not as her child.

What Lisa Being A Child Of The Survivors Would Mean For Season 4

Lisa’s Story Can Be Told In More Than One Timeline

In the present day, Lisa’s main connections to the survivors were Natalie and Lottie, but both characters are dead now, and with Lottie’s killer already revealed, being Travis and Natalie’s child may be the only way she can remain in the show. This twist could even allow her story to continue in multiple timelines.

Present-day Lisa may pursue the remaining Yellowjacket survivors – Misty, Shauna Sadecki (Melanie Lynskey), Taissa Turner (Tawny Cypress), and Melissa (Hilary Swank) – to learn more about Travis and Natalie’s past, and about the two people she never knew as her parents.

Since teenage Natalie (Sophie Thatcher) used the satellite phone to contact the outside world, the Yellowjackets may be rescued in season 4, and the 1990s timeline can move into the post-rescue phase. This can show how Natalie and teenage Travis (Kevin Alves) rekindle their romance once they are back in civilization, which leads to Lisa’s birth.

If this comes to pass, not only will Maines continue playing Lisa in the present-day timeline, but Lisa’s early childhood, and Travis and Natalie’s decision not to be the ones to raise her, can be shown. In this way, Lisa can meaningfully impact more than one of the show’s timelines.

While there is merit to this Lisa theory playing out in season 4, it may arguably be too late to make the twist land. Lisa’s heritage would be more impactful if Natalie or Travis were still alive and if she would have to find a way to reconcile with them, but it is too late for this to happen.

There is also the logistical matter of how Lisa would learn about this shocking truth. It’s difficult to imagine any of the remaining survivors knowing about Travis and Natalie’s secret or having a reason to share the revelation with Lisa. Parts of this Yellowjackets theory are compelling, but it is not without its challenges.
