9-1-1 Must Finally Solve Bobby And Athena’s Forgotten Problem In 2025

9-1-1 has to contend with Bobby and Athena’s (Peter Krause and Angela Bassett) house problem when season 8 returns in 2025. The key conflict for the show’s power couple leading up to 9-1-1 season, 8 episode 9 has been their lack of permanent residency, but it’s gone unresolved for the first half of the current year. The house previously occupied by the Grant-Nash family had valid reasons to vanish, but 9-1-1 now needs to seriously consider its replacement.

9-1-1 needs to let Bobby and Athena solve their housing issue so that they can focus on the abundance of other problems still affecting them in the show. Athena’s career in 9-1-1 season 8 has already drastically changed, with her first mentee injuring a civilian (season 8, episode 7, “Hotshots”) and an injury continuing to impact her mobility on the field. Conversely, Bobby is back in full swing as the captain of the 118 after nearly quitting in season 7. With such turbulence in their professional lives, Bobby and Athena could use the stability of a forever home.

What Happened To Bobby And Athena’s House

Their previous home, the house Athena lived in since the pilot episode, was last seen in the 9-1-1 season 7 finale (“All Fall Down”). During the ending of 9-1-1 season 7, the house was set on fire within the narrative canon of the show. Bobby saved Athena from the fire, leaving him to wade in yet another near-death experience that he eventually escaped from unscathed. This time, however, the old house permanently burned down as collateral damage.

Aside from a logical resolution in the plot, the house had to go due to 9-1-1 switching networks. For the truncated season 7 onwards, 9-1-1 moved to ABC after Fox canceled it to prioritize its spinoff, 9-1-1: Lone Star. The house, a recognizable set from the first six seasons, couldn’t be changed without the dedicated fans noticing. To explain the disappearance of the established setting, 9-1-1 season 7 implemented the arson plot.

The 118 Can Help Build A New Home

When 9-1-1 season 8 returns, the show will have to offer a concrete solution to Bobby and Athena’s new house. The pair agreed to design an entirely new home to make their own, but they’re still living in a temporary spot without any major developments. Whether they’re hesitant to begin the schematics or too busy to schedule the time for it, Bobby and Athena’s house storyline is lacking closure. The best thing they could do is let their loved ones help them.

Athena has been an honorary member of the 118 since the first season of 9-1-1, so it would make perfect sense for the team to play a role in building her new dream home. Whether Buck and Chimney (Oliver Stark and Kenneth Choi) are on the site with hard hats or Hen (Aisha Hinds) is picking out the tile pattern, the found family should be there. Despite Maddie’s 9-1-1 season 8 future being unclear and Eddie potentially looking to set up a new home of his own in Texas, 9-1-1 continuously proves home is where the heart is.
