The Real Reason Why Grace Sawyer Left The Rookie So Abruptly
Will we see more of Ali Larter’s character?
The Rookie is a warm and hilarious show about forty-year-old John Nolan, who decided to make a drastic change in his life, graduated from the police academy and started his career as a cop in Los Angeles from scratch.
The example of Nolan illustrates the problems of an adult and the difficulties of the youngest link in the chain of a large team – a great way to show that it is never too late to quit everything today and start something new tomorrow.
The supporting cast is one of the highlights of the show. The Rookie’s ensemble cast of Los Angeles Police Department officers gives the show depth and variety. Each character has their own quirks and personal problems that are revealed throughout the series.
Who Was Grace Sawyer?
Among The Rookie’s kaleidoscope of characters was Grace Sawyer, who first appeared on the show in season two. She and John had a long history – they were a couple in college, but broke up after John found out that Sarah, his future wife, was pregnant.
Twenty years later, Grace and John meet again and begin a relationship, which this time ends with Grace – she decides to get back together with her ex-husband so that her son can grow up with his father. This marks the end of Grace’s arc and her time on the show, and while the story came to a logical conclusion, many viewers found Grace’s departure rather abrupt and unexpected.
Why Did Ali Larter Leave The Rookie?
It’s worth noting that the show’s creators didn’t originally plan for Grace to appear in more than two episodes. However, the audience liked the character and as a result, Ali Larter, who played Grace, stayed on the show for as many as 13 episodes.
In addition, during the filming of The Rookie, Larter was working on her own project, The Sidelines, which was to be released on Fox, and apparently the producers of the show decided not to keep the actress on the show any longer than necessary.
Will Grace Sawyer Ever Return?
Ali Larter has repeatedly mentioned that she would like to return to the project, but this is unlikely given how far the show has come and how much the plot and characters have changed since season two. But who knows, maybe we will see her in a small cameo role in season six or beyond.
