Cobra Kai Season 6 Release Window Gets An Update From Creators
The highly anticipated Cobra Kai season 6 gets a new update on its potential release window from the creators of the hit Karate Kid sequel show.
Cobrai Kai season 6’s potential release window has received a new update via series creators Josh Heald, Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg. Set to serve as the final season of the hit Karate Kid sequel series, filming on season 6 began earlier this year but was halted due to the wave of industrial action that swept through Hollywood. Following the successful resolution to the SAG-AFTRA actors strike in November, series star Xolo Maridueña confirmed that he already had a date to resume filming that was “right around the corner.”
During a recent interview with Deadline, the trio were questioned about when audiences could potentially expect to see Cobra Kai season 6 arrive on their screens. While the team stopped short of providing a concrete date, Schlossberg did confirm that the show’s final season would arrive in 2024 with the “only caveat being that nothing else happens in the industry.” Check out his comments below:
With the only caveat being that nothing else happens in the industry. That’s the hope to get this out ASAP for the fans who have been waiting.
How Cobra Kai’s Next Villain Could Deliver The Best Season Yet
Since its original debut on YouTube Red in 2018, Cobra Kai has earned rave reviews from audiences and critics alike. With season 1 boasting an impressive 100% fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes, and each season to follow never falling below 90%, the show has consistently proven itself a more than worthy successor to the original Karate Kid movies. With season 6 now set to wrap up the series, it will be interesting to see if the showrunners can potentially deliver yet another successful season in their already impressive streak.
While Cobra Kai has largely revolved around introducing a whole new generation of martial arts students, much of its appeal also rests in its dedication to the franchise’s existing lore and willingness to bring back so many of the original stars. Yet perhaps one of the most exciting possibilities for season 6 lies in the appearance of a character that so far has only been mentioned by name. With Dexter star C.S. Lee set to appear as Kim Sun-Yung, the creator of the Way of the Fists fighting style, the Cobra Kai showrunners have the potential to introduce viewers to an “Anti-Miyagi”.
With the late Pat Morita’s Mr. Miyagi still widely considered the heart of the franchise, and his teachings central to much of Cobra Kai’s unfolding story, introducing a dark reflection of the wise sensei could potentially bring the series to new heights. As the inventor of Cobra Kai’s signature fighting style and original mentor of both John Kreese and Terry Silver, Lee’s character could potentially be the complete antithesis to everything that Mr. Miyagi once stood for. Whether Cobra Kai season 6 will live up to the success of previous seasons remains to be seen, but Kim Sun-Yung’s inclusion makes for some exciting dramatic prospects.
