House of the Dragon Star Matt Smith Thinks Season 2 Arrives in August
Only confirmed for summer so far.
House of the Dragon star Matt Smith has said he believes the second season of the Game of Thrones spin-off arrives in August 2024.
As reported by NME, Smith was asked on The Zoe Ball Breakfast Show when fans can expect to watch House of the Dragon Season 2, which so far only has a vague “summer 2024” release window.
“August, I think,” Smith said, before backtracking a little. “This summer, yeah.” This would match up with the first season, the first episode of which premiered on August 21, 2022.
HBO has so far remained quiet on House of the Dragon Season 2 despite the show being one of few unaffected by 2023’s dual actors and writers strikes due to it largely starring UK actors. Only a single teaser trailer has been released so far alongside a handful of posters.
Season 2 will continue the adaptation of original author George R.R. Martin’s Fire and Blood, a book outlining the history of House Targaryen. Martin has seen its first two episodes and described them as “powerful, emotional, gut-wrenching, heart rending”, and “very dark”.
In our 9/10 review of Season 1, IGN said: “After 10 episodes, House Of The Dragon has officially emerged as a worthy successor to Game Of Thrones.”
