Why The Witcher Star Freya Allan Is Relieved The Series Is Ending After 5 Seasons

The Witcher star Freya Allan opens up about the show ending after five seasons. The Witcher focuses on the adventures of Geralt of Rivia, a legendary Witcher imbued with superhuman abilities to help him fight monsters. English actor Henry Cavill starred as Geralt for the first three seasons. However, following his exit from the show, Cavill was replaced by Liam Hemsworth, while Allan continues her co-lead role as Ciri. Allan is currently shooting The Witcher season 4, and it was recently announced that season 5 will be the show’s last.

In an interview with Inverse to discuss her new movie Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes, Allan opened up about her experiences on The Witcher. She also revealed her bittersweet feelings about the show ending after season 5. Check out Allan’s comments below:

I was so kind of finished with it mentally . Initially the challenge was thinking that I had to do two more. It’s going to be the end of a massive chapter, which I’m excited for and ready for. But I think when I actually get to it, I’m going to be shocked at how much that hits me.

Has Henry Cavill’s The Witcher Exit Impacted Freya Allan’s Feelings About the Show?

One of the biggest reasons Allan could feel emotionally finished with the show is that there has already been an unintentional conclusion of sorts and that is the ending of her working relationship with Cavill. The two worked closely together for several years and likely developed a rapport that may have been hard to say goodbye to after three seasons.

Cavill leaving The Witcher also caused controversy as it upset many audiences and led to negative sentiments being cast in the show’s direction. This reaction could have impacted the feelings of others working on The Witcher, including Allan. However, she has come out in defense of new cast member Hemsworth, and hopefully, Ciri and his Geralt will have their own equally interesting dynamic.

The legacy of The Witcher is at a crossroads now, and the best thing the show can do is try to take the story forward, introduce new characters for The Witcher season 5, and try to wrap things up in a satisfactory way. As a constant force throughout the show, Allan and her character will play a pivotal part in how The Witcher is remembered in years to come. Though she might feel drained and ready to leave the series now, hopefully, in the future, she’ll look back on it fondly.
