Lord of the Rings: Rings of Power Season 3 Reveals Exciting Orc Transformation

Amazon Prime Video’s The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power might not have a Season 3 premiere date, but things are shaping up for the next installment of the series based on the works of J.R.R. Tolkien. It’s been almost exactly one year since The Rings of Power aired its Season 2 finale, and the show just gave fans an exciting update on what is to come.

In an Instagram post from the official The Rings of Power account, fans can see the process of turning one of the show’s actors into an Orc or Uruk. The sped-up video shows the entire process of the show’s makeup team transforming the actor into one of Sauron’s soldiers and servants. The sneak peek was captioned: “And thus they multiplied in the lands of Mordor.” The post can be seen below.

Fans are seemingly excited for Season 3, based on the reaction to the video. Instagram user alil490 commented, “Probably the best looking uruks I’ve seen! We appreciate that you went with prosthetics instead of just using CGI.” Another commenter, drewwinchester said, “The makeup is INCREDIBLE.” Another commenter stated what they would like to see in Season 3 as far as Uruks are concerned. “I hope to see neurodivergent orcs and traditional Uruk families,” commented icbfactory.

The third season of The Rings of Power will bring with it some new cast members. It was announced earlier this year that Andrew Richardson (Extrapolations) and Zubin Varla (Andor), as well as Adam Young (The Witcher: Blood Origin), had all signed on for The Rings of Power Season 3. Richardson will be featured as a series regular, and Varla and Young will be in recurring roles. Specific details on what parts the actors are playing in The Rings of Power have not been revealed.

The Rings of Power comes from showrunners J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay and is set many, many years before the events of Tolkien’s The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings trilogy. The show, which has an 84% Rotten Tomatoes critic score, covers the events of the Second Age, including the forging of the Rings by the Elven Smith, Celebrimbor. It also chronicles the rise to power of the Dark Lord Sauron, played by Charlie Vickers.

A premiere date for The Rings of Power Season 3 has not yet been revealed, but one of the show’s actors gave an update in September 2025. Robert Aramayo, who plays Elrond in the show, said at that time that filming was underway on Season 3 and planned to continue through the end of this year. “And then I’ll try and get a job fast,” Aramayo joked about what he will do after Season 3 finishes production.
