What’s the Latest on Amy Morton’s Trudy Leaving Chicago P.D.?

There are ongoing rumors that Amy Morton, who plays Trudy Platt, might be leaving Chicago P.D. She first appeared in Season 1 as a recurring character before becoming a main cast member in Season 2. She serves as the Desk Sergeant at the 21st District of the Chicago Police Department. Given her integral role in the storyline, concerns have emerged about her potential departure. But are the rumors about her exit true? Here are the details.
Is Amy Morton’s Trudy Platt leaving Chicago PD in Season 13?
There are no reports that suggest that Morton’s Trudy is leaving Chicago P.D. in this season or beyond. Neither the makers nor the actress has addressed these rumors or confirmed the departure.
The rumors emerged from an Instagram and Facebook post, which claimed that Morton is saying goodbye to the show after the upcoming season. The post’s headline read, “BREAKING: Amy Morton Confirms Exit from Chicago P.D. After Upcoming Season — ‘It’s Time to Say Goodbye.” A similar post was shared by what appears to be a fan page on Instagram. Nevertheless, both posts are fake, given that no such official announcement has been made.
According to NBC’s Chicago P.D.’s casting list, Morton is still a part of the upcoming season. Fans took to social media to react to the fake news and express concerns over her departure. A fan said, “No, Trudy, you can’t leave, we love you.” Another one wrote, “She was actually my favorite character on the show. Surely, there are a few others that could leave but not Trudy!” Revealing ideas on how the makers could give her a send-off if they want to, a third user added, “If Trudy in fact does leave, I hope to hell they don’t kill her off. Perhaps she could still make cameo appearances on Chicago Fire. Hopefully the producers allow Trudy to retire from Chicago PD.”
Last year, in a conversation with NBC Insider, Morton expressed her gratitude for being a part of Chicago P.D. and getting to return for Season 12. She said, “This has become like family now. And it’s a lean, mean machine… we sort of have this down to a science, and it’s really great to see everybody every year. We’ve gone through births, deaths, marriages, divorces. Any and everything that happens in someone’s life, we’ve witnessed over the 12 years of this show between cast and crew.” She further added, “So it’s made us very tight-knit and I really feel lucky to be able to see these people every year.”
