Chicago Fire, Med, & PD Crossover Episode Sets 2026 Release With Order Shakeup & Plot Details Revealed

NBC announced a brand-new One Chicago crossover on Chicago FireMed and PD that will air in March. After Chicago Fire launched multiple spinoffs, including Chicago PD in 2014, Chicago Med in 2015, and the short-lived Chicago Justice in 2017, the producers started introducing crossovers between the shows as well as with the Law & Order franchise.

The next One Chicago crossover is scheduled for Wednesday, March 4. In a timeslot shakeup, Chicago Fire will air first at 8 p.m. EST, then Chicago Med at 9 p.m., with Chicago PD closing out the night at 10 p.m. EDT.

Normally, NBC’s Wednesday night schedule begins with Med and then Fire, but those two shows will swap places just for the crossover. Chicago PD will retain its usual 10 p.m. EST timeslot.

In the three-hour crossover, Firehouse 51 is called to the scene after a “passenger jet suddenly goes silent mid-air,” which creates a shocking mystery that could result in several fatalities, according to the official logline.

“Firehouse 51 is called to an airfield when a passenger jet suddenly goes silent mid-air, triggering a high-stakes emergency. Their discovery cracks open a bigger and deadlier mystery — one with consequences that could ripple far beyond the runway and put countless lives in jeopardy.”

Not counting backdoor pilots, the first Chicago crossover was actually between Fire and Law & Order: SVU in 2014, followed by the first official One Chicago crossover featuring Fire and PD a couple of months later. In 2016, NBC aired a three-way Chicago crossover between FireMed, and PD without Law & Order.

Once Chicago Justice debuted, the fourth series in the franchise joined in on the action with official crossovers as well as guest appearances. Justice lasted just one season and aired its final episode in May 2017. The One Chicago crossovers have continued with the remaining shows in the years since.

While One Chicago crossovers don’t air every single year, the most recent one occurred in early 2025 with all three shows. During that three-hour event, the first responders arrived at the scene of a gas explosion to save the hundreds of people inside a building.

Chicago Fire season 14, which is currently airing on NBC, stars Taylor Kinney, David Eigenberg, Christian Stolte, Joe Minoso, Miranda Rae Mayo, Daniel Kyri, Hanako Greensmith, Jake Lockett, Jocelyn Hudon, Dermot Mulroney, and Brandon Larracuente.

The Chicago Med cast, meanwhile, includes S. Epatha Merkerson, Oliver Platt, Steven Weber, Jessy Schram, Luke Mitchell, Sarah Ramos and Darren Barnet, while Jason Beghe, Patrick John Flueger, Marina Squerciati, LaRoyce Hawkins, Amy Morton, Benjamin Levy Aguilar, and Arienne Mandi all star on PD.

Each Chicago series by itself has a large ensemble cast. Crossovers allow each team to interact with the others in storylines they otherwise never would have appeared together. Over the years, numerous TV franchises have done the same, including Law & OrderNCISCSI, and the Arrowverse.

Now, viewers will get to witness another highly anticipated One Chicago crossover in less than two months.
