One Time Chicago Fire’s Stella Kidd Wasn’t In The Wrong (But Still Got Bashed By Fans)
This woman can’t ever catch a break.
If there’s one character that’s almost more hated than Gabriela Dawson, who finally left the show in season 6, it’s Stella Kidd. Seemingly perfect, strong, independent, and funny, she manages to get the fans riled up and annoyed in a matter of minutes.
And it’s not because she’s with the Chicago Fire heartthrob, Kelly Severide. Or is it?
It’s not uncommon for fans to hate on women who get into relationships with the male leads. Especially when those characters are so charismatic that they can win over pretty much everyone without even trying.
It’s not that people hate Stella for being who she is, they hate her more for not being a scented Severide companion.
One situation that proves this perfectly is Tyler’s comeback.
We all remember catching Severide’s jealous glances before anything that could indicate his intentions ever happened. Whether you believe in friendship between men and women or not, you can’t help but think that such behavior towards a woman working in a predominantly male workplace is a little strange.
Not only that, but Kelly’s attempts to warn Stella about Tyler were also out of place. No matter how well he meant it, it was coming from a place of jealousy, and Stella wouldn’t be able to believe him when she saw it.
Of course, he was right in the end. Of course Stella had to experience the disappointment with Tyler. But the simple truth is: that was her place to judge, not Kelly’s.
Yet to this day, she’s the one who gets bashed for not listening to someone who was clearly biased and trying to pursue the friendship she wanted and needed.
Whether you think Stella Kidd was right in this situation or not, there’s a lot more to come for her and all the other Chicago Fire characters, as the show has been picked up for another season.
