Chicago Fire Fans Want This OG Character To Replace Brett

With Sylvie Brett leaving the show in S12E6, it’s high time to bring back the character Chicago Fire did dirty in the past and give her a redemption arc.

Chicago Fire fans will have to say farewell to Sylvie Brett in a few: in Episode 6, she’ll marry Matt Casey, and they’ll both leave the series for good. Obviously, Brett’s role will have to be filled with someone else — and instead of bringing in a new character, the writers should use this opportunity to spice things up a little.

Brett’s Leave Is Chili’s Chance To Shine

The best way to spice something up is to add some chili into the mix — or, in the case of Chicago Fire, Chili with the capital C. Jessica Chilton has been away since Season 4, but now might be the perfect time for her return. First, she was a great character, and second, she was never explicitly fired, leaving her a window back.

After Chili got booted from the Fire Dept due to her drinking problem, she deserves a good redemption arc. Fans would love to see how she’d developed as a person over the years and overcome the trauma of losing her sister… And overall, Chili’s fate in the show wasn’t fair, so why not fix the wrongs of the past by bringing her back?

Chili Was Punished More Than Severide

We’d be the first to agree that drinking on a job is terrible, and even more so on a job as dangerous and responsible as a Paramedic-in-Charge. Was Chili in the wrong there? She totally was. But was she supposed to be punished for it so severely? We don’t think so; or if she was, it shouldn’t have been her alone who got Chicago Fired.

While Chili was drinking on the job, Kelly Severide was getting high off his painkillers. He even asked Shay to steal the drugs from the ambulance’s supply for him, which is just bizarre! But unlike Chili, not only was Severide not booted out of the Department but he was also given a fifty-second chance at redeeming himself.

After all these years, we think it’s high time Chili gets such a chance, too, and fills in the position vacated by Brett. Fans are tired of bland new characters anyway.
