Sony Pictures Television’s highly-anticipated Cobra Kai Season 6 gets an update from co-creator Josh Heald ahead of its Netflix return.
Cobra Kai co-creator Josh Heald shared a brand-new production update about the upcoming sixth and final season of Netflix’s hit Karate Kid spinoff series. It has recently been confirmed that the final installment’s 15 episodes have been divided into three parts.
Posted on X, Heald confirmed that the production on the final episodes of Cobra Kai Season 6 has finally been completed. Its filming wrap comes less than two months before the show’s return in July for the first part of its three-part final season. “That’s an Atlanta wrap on #CobraKai! Thank you to the people of this incredible city for being the heart and soul of these six special seasons,” Heald wrote. “You’ve made our karate workplace into a true home away from home. Until we meet again… Cobra Kai Never Dies.”

Cobra Kai hails from Heald, Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg, who serve as creators and executive producers. The series is being led by franchise vets Ralph Macchio and William Zabka, as they reprise their respective roles as Daniel LaRusso and Johnny Lawrence from the iconic Karate Kid film trilogy. The ensemble also consists of Xolo Maridueña as Miguel, Jacob Bertrand as Eli/Hawk, Mary Mouser as Sam, Tanner Buchanan as Robby, Peyton List a Tory, Gianni DeCenzo as Demetri, Courtney Henggeler as Amanda, Vanessa Rubio as Carmen, Dallas Dupree Young as Kenny, Alicia Hannah-Kim as Sensei Kim, Griffin Santopietro as Anthony, and Oona O’Brien as Devon, along with returning film villains Martin Kove as John Kreese and Yuji Okumoto as Chozen. Despite being the 1986 sequel’s main antagonist, Okumoto’s Chozen has been reintroduced as one of Daniel’s valuable allies in the Cobra Kai series.
The official synopsis reads, “Picking up from Cobra Kai eliminated from the Valley, our senseis and students must decide if and how they will compete in the Sekai Taikai – the world championships of karate.” According to Hurwitz, he is excited for fans to see how the upcoming final season will expand the Miyagiverse compared to the first five installments. “The world building has been truly exhilarating,” he shared. “Excited for everyone to see the diversity of scenes we’ve been filming episode to episode. We’re going to so many new places in the Miyagiverse.”
Ralph Macchio’s Daniel LaRusso Sets Big Screen Return
Following the end of Cobra Kai, Macchio’s Daniel LaRusso will next be seen in Sony Pictures’ newest Karate Kid movie, which will also feature Jackie Chan’s return as Mr. Han from the 2010 reboot. I Am Not Okay With This creator Jonathan Entwistle is directing the coming-of-age martial arts movie from a screenplay written by Rob Lieber. The newest installment will star franchise newcomers Ben Wang, Joshua Jackson, Ming-Na Wen, Wyatt Oleff, Aramis Knight and Sadie Stanley, with Wang expected to take on the titular role. The film’s theatrical release date was recently delayed from Dec. 13, 2024 to May 30, 2025.
Cobra Kai Season 6 Part 1 debuts on July 18, 2024, while Parts 2 and 3 will be released on Nov. 28, 2024 and in 2025, respectively.
