Emotional exit revealed as pregnant Coronation Street star leaves the show
Alya Nazir (Sair Khan) has departed Coronation Street for a new job in Dublin – but only before addressing her relationship with Adam Barlow (Sam Robertson) first.
It’ll be no surprise to fans of the long-running ITV soap that actress Sair Khan’s exit is only temporary.
In true soap opera fashion, she’s swanned around the streets of Weatherfield holding a variety of large objects in a bid to conceal her pregnancy from viewers, and the storyline of Alya moving to Dublin has been created to facilitate her maternity leave.
The character has had somewhat of a whirlwind month, having left her job at Barlow Legal Services and transferring over to rival solicitors Fabian’s.
Under the direction of her new boss Rich Pemberton (Jamie Cho), he fast tracked her for a promotion in Dublin, which she was eager to take after falling out with Adam.
However, it didn’t take long for that to turn around and in a classic Corrie twist, they suddenly fell head over heels for one another.
Unfortunately, when Rich walked in them both engaging in a passionate moment, it seemed the new job had fallen through.
He later assured her that the opportunity was still hers – and that he’d been tipped off that the incident with Adam was a one-off and she was still very much reliable.
It then transpired that Adam was the one who persuaded Rich!
In tonight’s (8th May) episode, Stu Carpenter (Bill Fellows) jetted in from Germany on an early flight to say goodbye to her before she left.
Alya was glad that Yasmeen (Shelley King) had some company in her absence, but her grandmother was more concerned about how she would feel without the man she’d been leaning on recently…
She dismissed their relationship as purely platonic, it was evident that there was still a spark between the pair when they bumped into one another outside of Roy’s Rolls.
Adam handed her a pricey legal book as a parting gift, and they shared a knowing look.
Yasmeen begged Alya to come clean about her feelings, and she admitted that if there was anything, it wouldn’t be possible now she was going to Dublin.
Could their fling be reignited when she returns to Weatherfield in six months?
