The Blacklist

Fans Reveal the Truth Behind Blacklist’s ‘Dishonest’ Writing (It’s Not Pretty)

Breaking promises is always a bad idea, and everyone should keep that in mind.

The Blacklist is an American crime thriller that was actually created by Jon Bokenkamp in a “let’s try” way, but became a smash hit in the genre in no time. Well, what’s to say, people just love a good crime story, which The Blacklist got for many years.

It also helped that the cast of the show was amazing, with James Spader as the main character of the series, the mysterious yet so alluring FBI agent Raymond Reddington, who had been the master criminal years before. And now, as the show went on, he was taking down the criminals he used to work with one by one.

The show lasted 10 seasons, but that’s not what the creator and writers had in mind. What made it such a success was actually the enthusiasm and support of the fandom. But there was a specific reason for that.

The thing is, it was established at the beginning of the show that Red might not be Red at all, but could actually be a Russian woman, Katarina Rostova, Liz Keen’s mother. And as the show went on, the fans were curious to find out.

The writers gave them lots of hints that the finale of the show would finally reveal Red’s true identity. So they kept watching the show even when it got worse after season 5, keeping the ratings still high. But what actually happened at the end of the show really broke the hearts of the fans.

“By far this was the worst show finale to date. The writers had promised us for 10 years that they had an ending that they were working towards and that we would know who Red was in the end. It is hard to recommend this show to anyone now because of the lack of respect the writers demonstrated to the viewers,” Redditor Fiercefelixx said.

Long story short, the fans feel betrayed by the show’s writers. After all these years of faithfully following the show, they didn’t feel like they deserved this attitude. But what’s worse, the fans now think that this was the writers’ plan all along. They had nothing to offer and they knew in advance that there would be no true identity revealed in the end.

So they went ahead and killed off the main character… by a bull. Seriously, who does that?!
