‘I’d Want to See It’: Supernatural Creator Is On Board With a Reboot
There has been a lot of conversation about the Supernatural reboot, and the show’s creator Eric Kripke is on board.
Supernatural creator Eric Kripke notes that he’s “all in” about a possible reunion. Of course, that comes with an important condition previously shared by the show’s two leads.
Supernatural was The CW’s longest-running series, with 15 seasons and 327 episodes. The series premiered in 2005 and it ran until 2020, following two brothers fighting every kind of evil there is, including demons, angels, and God himself. Despite the series ending with a definite finale (that some fans disagree with), there has been some conversation about a possible reunion.
Supernatural creator Eric Kripke talked to Collider about the upcoming season of his critically acclaimed satirical superhero show The Boys, and he also addressed his hit fantasy show Supernatural. The series ran for a decade and a half, forming strong bonds between the cast and crew, and there might be interest in continuing the story. Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles confirmed they want to return to the show if the story feels right, and Kripke is also game.
“Obviously, I’ve told a lot of those stories, but if there was something out there that really surprised me, I love that universe, and I’d be interested in looking at that.”
“Of course, I’d want to see it,” he said. “Whether I’m a part of it depends on, could I find something fresh about it that I have never seen before? Obviously, I’ve told a lot of those stories, but if there was something out there that really surprised me, I love that universe, and I’d be interested in looking at that. It’s tricky to find what story in that universe hasn’t been told, but if someone can find one, I’m all in, baby.”
Eric Kripke Wants a Supernatural Reunion on a Different Show
Eric Kripke’s show The Boys is to return with a fourth season soon, and the creator has shared his interest in bringing the team together on the show. So far, The Boys has featured many Supernatural names, including Jensen Ackles and Jim Beaver, and Season 4 will feature Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Rob Benedict.
Now that Walker has been canceled, Kripke publicly shared his interest in bringing Padalecki to The Boys, which has received an early renewal for Season 5. “I don’t have a specific role yet, but I have the will, and where there’s the will, there’s the way,” Krikpe told the same outlet. “I don’t know whether it would be recurring or just one episode , but I can’t imagine I’ll finish the show, whenever it ends, without getting Jared in there, at least once. He’s been unavailable for years now, and now he is [available], so I definitely wanna bring him in for something.”
Kripke also told Variety, “He’s been busy the last few years, so schedules haven’t worked out.” He added, “But now, unfortunately, [Walker] got canceled — but the good thing is he’s free. And I feel like I have to complete my game of Supernatural Pokémon and I have my one big one — very big one — left to catch.”
