ITV Coronation Street fans ‘work out’ identity of Tyrone’s real dad in sad Cassie twist

Coronation Street viewers learned a DNA bombshell about Tyrone Dobbs in the latest episode of the ITV soap, and now some think they’ve worked out a shocking twist

Coronation Street fans fear they’ve rumbled a sickening twist on the ITV soap, and may have worked out the identity of Tyrone Dobbs’ biological father.

Tyrone’s mother Cassie Plummer confessed the truth about his parentage to her own mum Evelyn Plummer during Friday’s episode. But something she said while concealing the identity of Tyrone’s real father left viewers concerned.

Other fans were convinced a twist would see an existing character find out he is Tyrone’s father, while a further theory saw fans predicting the mystery man would soon arrive on the Cobbles. Tyrone has never met his dad with him also not knowing who he was, with him and viewers kept in the dark.

But a comment from Cassie saw her confessing to Evelyn that she fell pregnant after sleeping with a man who had paid her for sex. Cassie had admitted her past sex work as a teenager, after an older man she was in love with forced her to sleep with his friends for cash.

Evelyn was horrified, having no idea what happened to her daughter all those years ago as they had a fragile relationship. She asked Cassie if one of the men she slept with was Tyrone’s father to which she agreed.

While she did not name them or say who it was or what happened to them, she appeared to confirm it was not the older man she was seeing. She also didn’t state whether she knew who it was or not, but something she said about her father left fans worried.

Cassie had shocked Evelyn with her confession that her father found out about the sex work, and slapped her before telling her she had shamed the family. He also found out about the pregnancy, but told Cassie not to tell her mum about this or what she had been doing.

Evelyn was baffled as to why her late husband kept it all from her, while at some point she did learn about the pregnancy when Cassie was around 15 years old. Watching the scenes, fans were suspicious of Cassie’s dad, and feared a sickening abuse twist would lead to him being revealed as Tyrone’s father.

One viewer said on X: “Is Cassie’s dad Tyrone’s dad?” Another agreed: “I thought the same thing too…Gulp!” as a third added: “Literally just thought this too.” A further comment read: “Tyrone’s dad his uncle or grandad?”

Others wondered if a familiar face could be Tyrone’s real father, including Kevin Webster or villain Harvey Gaskell. Other viewers predicted the mystery dad would soon arrive on the show after Cassie’s confession, with her son tipped to learn the truth.

On fan posted: “I wonder if we’re going to meet Tyrone’s bio dad in the future now that he’s been mentioned.” Another said: “Cue bringing in some new deadbeat character as Tyrone’s dad!”
