‘Leave It to Beaver’ Star, 77, Makes Rare Comment About Fans

Leave It to Beaver actress Jeri Weil, who famously played Beaver Cleaver’s (Jerry Mathers) often-cross-classmate, Judy Hensler, is sharing her thoughts about the show’s long-enduring fanbase.
During an August 2025 interview on That’s Classic, Weil, who appeared in the show’s first three seasons, said she was in disbelief that Leave It to Beaver is still on syndication. According to Weil, she attends fan conventions, where viewers will tell her how much they appreciate her character and the show, which originally ran from 1957 to 1963.
“It amazes me that it’s still on TV. My god, and you don’t know how many people at the autograph show said to me, ‘Oh we watch you every morning. From 8 to 9.’ So many people said that. ‘Oh, we still watch the show. You’re so wonderful,’” said Weil during the interview.
She then said she appreciates the compliments from Leave It to Beaver fans.
“I guess it makes me feel good. You know, that I’m remembered. ‘Cause I was an intrical part [of the show],” said the former child actress.
Jeri Weil Shared a Story About a Fan Encounter
In the That’s Classic interview, Weil said she was occasionally recognized by Leave It to Beaver fans while she was a real estate agent in Los Angeles.
“Some people did. Not often,” said the 77-year-old.
She then shared that she was approached by a fan while walking in Hollywood, much to her disbelief.
“I was walking with my friends on day and out of the blue, some girl comes up and says, ‘Judy, you’re Judy Hensler.’ And I said, ‘Oh come on. Who told you?’ She said, ‘I recognized you.’ I thought how is that possible? But she did. It was amazing,” said Weil.
Jerry Mathers Discussed Leave It to Beaver Fans in 2023
The show’s star, Jerry Mathers, shared similar comments about interacting with Leave It to Beaver fans during an April 2023 interview with HometownTV. He said while he has retired from acting, he still attends “autograph shows,” which he described as “fun.” According to Mathers, he enjoys speaking to fans.
“I get to see a lot of fans. And a lot of people walk up to me and say, ‘You know, there’s one thing I want to ask, you why did you do this or that in that.’ So it’s just really fun,” said the 77-year-old.
