Looks Like Wednesday Season 2 Will Fulfill the Fans’ Deepest Desire After All

Wednesday fans have a number of demands for the upcoming Season 2, and the show’s costume designer accidentally reveals that one of them is to be met.

Tim Burton’s Wednesday has quickly become a worldwide sensation upon its 2022 debut, and Season 2 is currently one of the most anticipated Netflix premieres — costume designer Colleen Atwood has just unveiled a few peculiar details about the show’s sophomore season.

With Wednesday Season 2 release date shrouded in mystery, fans continue to come up with their own theories about what the future has in store next for Jenna Ortega’s Wednesday Addams, and many viewers are hoping that Season 2 will be featuring members of the main character’s family more frequently. In a recent interview with Variety, Atwood seemed to inadvertently confirm that this would be the case.

Discussing Catherine Zeta-Jones’ Morticia and her outfits for Wednesday’s next season, the costume designer shared that the character would have more variety in attire — the audience will be able to see Wednesday’s mother in less formal clothes. Atwood said, “In season 2 she’ll have a lot of looks, so it will be really fun to see what Morticia does when she’s out of the dress and into around-the-house looks.” What this means is that Season 2 will in fact be set in the Addams Family mansion, and Wednesday’s parents might be more prominent characters in this next chapter.

Not Much Was Seen of the Mansion in Season 1

In Wednesday Season 1, viewers got mere glimpses of the legendary mansion. It appeared in Episode 1 when Wednesday mourned her late pet scorpion Nero and then in Episode 8 when the victorious Ms. Addams was heading back to the mansion after putting an end to the crimes of Christina Ricci’s Marilyn Thornhill and Hunter Doohan’s Hyde.

Atwood went on to dive deep into the making of Morticia’s iconic dress in Wednesday Season 1. She pointed out that she enjoyed working with a limited color palette — the Addams family is notorious for only wearing black after all. “When you use black and white you’re limited, but if you’re going to be limited it’s a great world to be limited in. You can juxtaposition the two colors in different ways graphically that can make things look very different,” said the costume designer. However, Morticia’s dress didn’t come together on the first try, as Atwood made her dress in three different materials, including leather, and decided to get Zeta-Jones’ opinion via a quick call. The rest is history.

All eight episodes of Wednesday Season 1 are available for streaming on Netflix. Season 2 does not have an official release date yet.
