New ‘Chicago P.D.’ Recruit Clocks in For Duty in New BTS Images

Following Toya Turner‘s surprise departure from Chicago P.D. ahead of Season 13, the show has a replacement lined up. Arienne Mandi (The Night Agent) was cast as Naomi Kerr in the upcoming season and will play a major role. Series star Benjamin Levy Aguilar recently shared a post on his Instagram account revealing that Mandi was on the Chicago P.D. set, ready to bring Kerr to life. “Welcome to Chicago Ari muff! Cant [sic] wait for all of you to see her in action!” he captioned the post. The carousel shows one image of himself and Mandi smiling, while another shows the new addition on the trailer section of the production set.

Kerr is a former soldier and military contractor who is said to thrive in dangerous situations. She is a “fearless outsider who keeps her cards close to the vest.” However, Deadline reported that these descriptions are tentative and could change at any moment. The only way for viewers to know Kerr fully is to tune in for Season 13, which premieres this fall. Details about the season are still scarce as production ramps up, but showrunner Gwen Sigan hinted at an exciting season ahead.

‘Chicago P.D.’ Season 13 Will Deal With the Aftermath of the Explosive Season 12 Finale

Reid (Shawn Hatosy) is dead, and Intelligence is off the hook. Or are they? Even if internal affairs doesn’t come knocking again, the unit will deal with the consequences of their actions, especially after what happened to Deputy Chief Reid. “I think a lot of them are [going to be looking at the job differently],” Sigan told TV Insider after the Season 12 finale. “I definitely think Burgess (Marina Squerciati) [will approach the job differently.] For her, she had a lot to do with all of this, but she was really just trying to have someone’s back. She was just trying to have her teammate’s back, and so to see the consequences of it, I think it will have an effect on how she moves forward,” she added.

We have yet to learn what arcs will be tackled in Chicago P.D. Season 13 and how Kerr fits into all of it. However, this might align with Sigan’s goal for the season, where she wants to offer something new to viewers. “We’ll just hopefully make it fresh and different,” she shared. As for where Intelligence stands with IA, the showrunner wasn’t sure at the time. She said:

“I don’t know the answer yet, but I love that we have a lot of options. So that’s where we’ll start in the room, I’m sure, is answering that question, but I like that it’s open right now.”

Stay tuned to Collider for more Chicago P.D. updates as fall draws near and the season gets closer.
