The filming for the final season of Outlander has officially wrapped up, leaving fans in a state of emotional turmoil.
Eagerly awaiting the return of the second half of season seven, millions of viewers are anticipating the moment when Claire (played by Caitriona Balfe) and Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan) finally return to Scotland.
Meanwhile, the cast and crew have been immersed in the production of the eighth and concluding season in Scotland, which will mark the end of Starz’ popular drama.
Based on Diana Gabaldon’s bestselling novels, the final chapter is predicted to have fans reaching for tissues as they bid farewell to the Fraser clan.
The show’s official Instagram account confirmed that the filming for the last season has been completed, reports the Express.

“Today marks the final day of filming on the final season of #Outlander,” read the caption on Friday’s post.
“Words cannot express the gratitude owed to each and every hard-working cast and crew member who brought this incredible series to life and every single fan who supports it with passion, creativity, and dedication.
“Outlander really is more than just a show, it’s a family, and while filming might be ending, there’s so much more to this journey that’s just beginning.”
Despite having an additional half a season before the final one airs, fans were left heartbroken realising how close they were to the end of Outlander.
“WHAT DO YOU MEAN THAT’S A WRAP I’M NOT READY,” one fan exclaimed in the comments.
“Thank you to everyone involved,” another responded. “My eyes filled with tears when I scrolled to this. I knew it was coming but this was completely unexpected.
“I have never and never will again love a series, its characters and cast like I’ve loved Outlander.”
Meanwhile, a third devotee pleaded: “Noooo please don’t stop… you guys can time travel forever we will never tire of you.”
“At a loss for words,” another admitted. “Need time to process this. We will cherish our Outlander family forever.”

Series lead Sam Heughan also shared a series of snaps commemorating his time as Highlander hunk Jamie, writing, “What a journey. So many memories, incredible people I have been fortunate to work with and now can call friends. So many people to thank.”
