Return to the Wall confirmed for House of the Dragon season 2

Last week we got the exciting news that a new bit of construction had been spotted on the House of the Dragon season 2 set which looked part of the Wall, the enormous structure which we all know and love from Game of Thrones. It was enough to make us think we were going to see that important locale once more in the prequel series despite it never showing up during this period of George R.R. Martin’s fake history book, Fire & Blood.

But today we have what appears to be actual confirmation that the Wall is returning in season 2. Get out the fur caps, the heavy cloaks, the hearty stews and whatever else: the Wall is back in House of the Dragon!

House of the Dragon sound editor teases the Wall in season 2ong>

This confirmation comes from an interview that Gold Derby conducted with House of the Dragon sound editor Al Sirkett. Sirkett was nominated for an Emmy for his sound editing work on the House of the Dragon season 1 finale, “The Black Queen,” and is returning for season 2. In the interview, he may have slipped up a little and given a bit of insight into what he’s been working on for season 2:

If we end up going back North to the Wall, there are so many things you can do, you can show the white snow but just have that screeching sound of the wind…

It’s not quite Sirkett outright saying “we’re going back to the Wall,” but combined with the images that leaked out of the set last week it makes a pretty compelling case that the location will feature in season 2.

Who will go to the Wall in House of the Dragon season 2?

This of course raises questions about who would be visiting the Wall during House of the Dragon. There’s really only one prominent theory that most fans have gotten behind: Jacaerys Velaryon (Harry Collett), the son of Rhaenyra Targaryen (Emma D’Arcy) who we last saw flying off to make alliances for his mother’s cause at the Eyrie and Winterfell.

Jace’s journey is an important part of the Dance of the Dragons civil war, both because he secures powerful allies for the blacks, as well as because it’s really the only time we see Winterfell during the war. While in the North, Jace becomes close friends with Cregan Stark, the Lord of Winterfell during this time period. In the book, Jace and Cregan hunt and do other fun bonding activities as they feel one another out as potential allies. Our best bet is that they’ll go on a field trip to the Wall.

Production on House of the Dragon season 2 is ongoing, and so are the intriguing updates leaking out of the set:
