Rings Of Power Season 2 Teased With More Action & Higher Stakes For Middle Earth

Disa actor Sophia Nomvete teases what’s to come in The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power season 2, promising more action and much higher stakes.

The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power will have a lot more action and even higher stakes for Middle-earth, Disa actor Sophia Nomvete teases. Premiering on Prime Video last summer, The Rings of Power takes place thousands of years before the main events of J.R.R Tolkien’s novels and Peter Jackson’s acclaimed trilogy, chronicling a time of growing darkness in Middle-earth. The show is now wrapping up production on season 2, which doesn’t yet have a firm release date.

As The Rings of Power season 2 inches ever closer, Nomvete now teases some of what’s to come in a new interview with Deadline. According to the star, audiences can expect a notable increase in the amount of action and greater threats against the people and places of Middle-earth as the forces of evil grow stronger. Check out Nomvete’s full comment below:

“Season 1 was a time of relative peace, an introductory time meeting everybod. Season 2 is the unravelling of it all. It’s when the force of evil really starts to put pressure on Middle Earth and we watch how everyone that we know and hopefully love handles that situation. The stakes are higher. We see what that force of evil does to each race and to each relationship. There’s so much more action. We weathered the storms, and there’s a real sense of confidence in who and what we are. I’m really excited about it.”

Why The Rings Of Power Season 2 Could Feature Big Changes

Like in many large scale fantasy or science-fiction shows, season 1 of The Rings of Power serves as a lengthy introduction of sorts. With so much lore and so many characters, locations, and storylines, season 1 essentially lets creators Patrick McKay and J.D. Payne set up the chess board, so to speak, before season 2 can be used to really move the pieces around. House of the Dragon season 1, the show that can perhaps best be compared to The Rings of Power, operated in a similar fashion with the real meaty conflict set to start in season 2.

The biggest indication that The Rings of Power season 2 will be different in tone to season 1 is the fact that Sauron has now revealed himself. The finale finally unveils that Halbrand (Charlie Vickers) has been Sauron all along, with the final shots of the season seeing him take up residence in Mordor. With that mystery now answered, it seems likely that the forces of good and evil will more forcefully clash as the Second Age plunges further into darkness.

While the overall tone and level of action will change in season 2, at least one major character is also set to change in a fairly significant way. Galadriel actor Morfydd Clark has already teased that her Elven warrior will be different as well, revealing that she will no longer be as blinded by her desire for vengeance, perhaps bringing her more in line with Cate Blanchett’s take on the character. Many questions remain about The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power season 2, but it seems like audiences can expect the show to evolve in some interesting ways.
