Snowfall is one of the most popular shows on FX right now. The crime drama first premiered in 2017 and has only gotten better with each season. The show is set in the 1980s and revolves around budding dr*g dealer Franklin Saint during the crack epidemic in LA.
The series is currently airing its sixth season, which is soon headed to its conclusion. Fans are now eager to know if Snowfall will return with more episodes. So has the show been renewed for season 7? Read on to find out.
Snowfall Season 7: Renewal Status
Snowfall has not been renewed for a seventh season. The series will conclude at the end of season 6. However, the show has not been canceled and is coming to an end only due to the culmination of the storyline. FX announced the sixth season as the final one way back in April 2022.
“Today, as the fifth season of Snowfall reaches new heights of acclaim and viewership, there is no question that this series has become an FX classic drama. We are thrilled to order a sixth season that will enable Dave Andron, Walter Mosley, and the rest of the producers to bring Snowfall to a climatic finale showcasing the brilliance of everyone involved,” FX said at the time.
Co-creator Dave Andron also released a statement: “To tell a story worth telling, with creative partners you respect and admire, at a network that supports you throughout and allows you to end on your terms. That’s the dream. I am so grateful to everyone at FX from John Landgraf on down and to the entire Snowfall family for helping us get there.”
Snowfall Final Season Storyline
In the final season, Franklin is on the verge of losing everything, including his family, as the threat of a civil war looms over the city. He is going up against all the powers, from the KGB and the DEA to the CIA. It will be interesting to watch if he is able to bounce back from rock bottom or if the show ends with the destruction of the dr*g dealer.
The synopsis for the final season reads, “Franklin is desperate, forced to rob his Aunt Louie and Uncle Jerome after being wiped out by former CIA officer Teddy McDonald. Meanwhile, Louie has taken over Franklin’s role as Teddy’s sole buyer, undercutting her nephew and creating a competing empire in the process.”

Idris opened up about his thoughts on the show’s end in a recent interview and said, “We created something magical. We created history and the world gets to enjoy this forever. This isn’t something that’s just going to go away. I would speak to John Landgraf about this all the time, and he’d say, “This is a show that’s going to be on our platform forever.” So long after I’m gone, people are going to get to watch Snowfall.”
