These Two Characters From Breaking Bad And Better Call Saul Are Basically the Same

Fans found similarities between the most unlikely characters.

If you’re a fan of Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul, you might be surprised by the intriguing character parallels found by a Reddit user. As it turns out, two unlikely characters from the original show and its spinoff actually have many things in common.

The characters in question are Hank from Breaking Bad and Howard from Better Call Saul. And before you start wondering, the “H” being the first letter of their names isn’t the only similarity.

The Reddit user points out that both Howard and Hank have been around since the early episodes of their respective series. At first, they might seem like a thorn in the side of the main characters.

Howard, with his polished lawyer persona, often clashes with Jimmy’s unconventional methods. Hank, on the other hand, is first introduced as this cool DEA agent who’s always throwing jokes at his timid brother-in-law, Walt.

But as the shows go on, we start to see that these characters are more complex than we thought. They’re motivated, they mean well, and they truly stand by their beliefs.

Tragically, both characters meet their end at the hands of the series’ villains, marking significant turning points in the storylines.

Some fans suggest that they serve as “foils” to the protagonists. They make the differences in the main characters stand out, and when they interact, we see both the good and not-so-good sides of our antiheroes.

It’s also interesting to note that both characters face downfall due to the actions of the series’ antiheroes, even though they’re essentially on the “right” side of the law.

Even though there are some things they have in common, it’s really important to see how their stories play out differently. Hank is a determined agent who becomes kind of obsessed with catching Heisenberg.

On the other hand, Howard is more like a typical lawyer, stuck between the arguing McGill brothers, Chuck and Jimmy.

Hank’s story ends with him staying strong in what he believed in, while Howard’s death seems more like bad luck — he was just in the middle of a fight he didn’t really get.
