Tim’s The Rookie Season 7, Episode 7 Opening Scene Crystallizes How Much He Has Changed In 6 Years

Tim Bradford, played by Eric Winter, is undoubtedly the character with the most development in The Rookie, which is proven at the start of season 7, episode 7. The police procedural series introduced Tim during its series premiere. Lucy Chen was assigned as Tim’s new rookie (or, as he would say, “boot”), and it quickly became clear the kind of teacher and man he was. Tim was strict, relentless, and tough as a nail while working with Lucy. He never talked about his feelings, as he always kept his guard up. However, that is all changing in The Rookie season 7.

Tim has come a long way since The Rookie season 1. In season 7, he is still a training officer (he was with Metro for a little while in season 5, though), but his rank has changed from Police Officer III to Sergeant. As for his personal life, Tim’s is still a bit of a mess. However, he is working on it, as seen in The Rookie season 7, episode 7, “The Mickey.”

Tim’s Therapy Session Shows How Much He Has Changed Since The Rookie Season 1

The first scene of The Rookie season 7, episode 7 depicts Tim at a group therapy session, discussing his latest problem with Lucy (aka their surprise hook-up on Valentine’s Day). As some may recall, Tim broke up with Lucy in The Rookie season 6. He felt as if he wasn’t good enough for her and knew he needed to work on bettering himself and his mental health before being in a committed relationship. Tim started receiving counseling from Dr. Blair London. Unfortunately, that didn’t end well, and viewers didn’t see Tim attending therapy until one season later.

Tim opens up to a group of people in a way that no one ever thought he would, given his curmudgeon of a character in The Rookie season 1. Talking about his feelings with his friends would be surprising enough. However, discussing his love troubles with relative strangers is downright shocking, proving how much character development Tim has undergone over the years.

Why It’s So Important To Show Tim’s Self-Improvement Progress In The Rookie

If someone were to only watch the first episode of The Rookie and the latest season 7 episode, they would be shocked by how much Tim has changed. And that’s a good thing. Character development is integral to a show’s success. If a character isn’t growing, the story is stagnant and the furthest thing from appealing. So, since Tim is an important person in the ABC series, his progress over the seasons has been both intriguing and seamless. Tim’s development has simply been one of the best parts of The Rookie.
