There’s nothing better than a good buildup.
If there’s one thing period drama fans love more than intrigue and power shifts, it’s passion and romance. Without the distractions of modern technology and a much slower pace of life, the romance between two people in love becomes much more sensual and heartfelt, leaving the majority of viewers unarmed.
Fortunately, The Gilded Age, starring Marian Brook and Larry Russell, treads on this very best ground of young romance. Even though the more observant viewers saw it coming and sensed some undertones of their friendship, the kiss at the end of the show’s second season was still a very welcome surprise.
Now that the show has been confirmed to return for season 3, fans cannot help but wonder: will they get to see the wedding? But the biggest question is even bigger than: do they want to see the wedding so soon?
Will Larry and Marian Get Married In The Gilded Age Season 3?
Even though the overall pace of life was slower back then, the rate at which romances progressed and turned into marriages was incredibly high. Therefore, it is expected that Marian and Larry will get married sooner rather than later.
Besides, the quick wedding may also help their mother, Agnes, to avoid the consequences and shame of bankruptcy that the family may face once they realize that there is no way to save their wealth. Scandal could be the end of the whole affair, and that is the last thing fans want for the happy couple.
Still, the rushed marriage seems like an even worse prospect. Season 2 of The Gilded Age already skipped, cut, and glossed over many moments that were supposed to make the audience believe in Marian and Larry’s friendship. These writing choices were saved only by the perfect on-screen chemistry between Louisa Jacobson and Harry Richardson.
However, no chemistry would be enough to make the audience believe in a happy and understanding relationship between two people who were mere acquaintances in what feels like a week ago. Not only is this not realistic in the slightest, it is also disrespectful to the characters.
Instead, the perfect season 3 should first show the courtship. Fans yearn for them to look into each other’s eyes, have long conversations, go for walks, and have every ounce of the whole premarital experience they both deserve.
