Coronation Street star Mollie Gallagher shares diagnosis with fans
Mollie Gallagher, who is known for playing Nina Lucas on the ITV soap, has told fans that she has been diagnosed with ADHD after ‘knowing for years’
Coronation Street’s Mollie Gallagher has bravely shared her ADHD diagnosis with her followers, expressing relief and happiness. On her Instagram, Mollie disclosed that she had suspected the condition “for years” and now feels “finally happy” as her life experiences are beginning to “make sense now.”
She reposted a segment from the ADHD Chatter Podcast featuring Kat Brown, where the journalist talks about the behavioural disorder. Alongside the video, Mollie commented: “I’ve just recently been diagnosed after knowing for years and I’m just finally happy that everything makes sense now.”
ADHD symptoms can be subtle in adults, leading to underdiagnosis. The NHS outlines typical signs such as hyperactivity, impulsiveness, and trouble with concentration or organising tasks.
Mollie joins a list of celebrities who have opened up about their ADHD, including Sam Thompson from Made In Chelsea, Loose Women panellist Nadia Sawalha, and presenter Emma Watson. Sam Thompson has also spoken about his dual diagnosis of ADHD and autism at the age of 30, reports the Mirror.
Actress Mollie is renowned for her portrayal of Nina Lucas in the ITV soap, having made her debut in November 2019 as Roy Cropper’s long-lost niece, a role played by David Neilson. Her character has been pivotal in some of the show’s most compelling plots, including a brutal and unprovoked assault driven by prejudice against her goth appearance.
In 2023, Mollie took a break from the Street to compete in Dancing on Ice, where she consistently impressed viewers with her performances. Throughout the competition, she often expressed gratitude for the unwavering support from her musician boyfriend Dan Myers, saying, “Dan is absolutely loving all my outfits. He’s excited to be a part of it.”
