How Powerful Is Grogu After Training With Luke Skywalker?

Grogu only spent a short time training with Luke Skywalker as seen in The Book of Boba Fett, but how strong did he actually become with the Force?

After the youngling’s training with Luke Skywalker in The Book of Boba Fett, Grogu’s recent appearance in The Mandalorian season 3 showcased the now-Mandalorian apprentice’s newfound strength. Even before Luke’s training, Grogu was deemed special in The Mandalorian, but the fact that he was proven to be Force-sensitive made the small figure even more noteworthy. In The Mandalorian season 1, Grogu memorably lifted a large mudhorn off the ground, healed Din Djarin’s injuries, choked Cara Dune, and redirected flamethrower fire from an incendiary trooper with his Force powers.

Those abilities took a toll on the foundling, but he managed to show even greater strength in The Mandalorian season 2. Aside from communicating telekinetically with Ahsoka Tano and crafting a Force shield while meditating, Grogu attacked two stormtrooper guards in his holding cell with just his mind. After these incidents, the progress of Luke’s training was showcased in The Book of Boba Fett’s “Chapter 6: From the Desert Comes a Stranger.” From this, Grogu has since exhibited many Force powers and abilities, especially in The Mandalorian season 3, that could further hint at Grogu’s usage in Rey’s upcoming Star Wars movie.

Grogu’s Brief Training With Luke Taught Him Many New Tricks

As per Luke’s training, Grogu began using the Force to balance and leap. Though Grogu chose to return to Din, forgoing any further Jedi training, he was significantly stronger than when he and Luke first met. This was certainly showcased throughout The Mandalorian season 3, in which Grogu was shown to have much more agency both in terms of how he interacted with those around him and his usage of the Force. Exhibiting his Force jump ability many times throughout the season, Grogu emulated Master Yoda with flips, leaps, and bounds to jump into the arms of his friends and evade enemies like the Praetorian Guards.

While Grogu did not display any other Force abilities in The Mandalorian season 3, it was clear just how much stronger the young Jedi/Mandalorian is after Luke’s training in a broader sense. In both prior seasons of The Mandalorian, Grogu was shown to be exhausted after every usage of the Force, no matter the size and strain of the task. In The Mandalorian season 3, however, this was not the case. From his excessive Force jumping to battling Praetorian Guards with Force pushes and stopping a full-blown explosion from killing him, Din, and Bo-Katan, Grogu’s strength in the Force was significantly highlighted without t he need to recuperate as before.

Grogu Will Continue Expanding His Powers

Though Grogu has grown and experienced a lot since he first encountered Din, he still has much to learn. While the training from Luke paid off as seen in The Mandalorian season 3, he’s still nowhere near the potential his high midi-chlorian count teases at. Alongside his feats in The Mandalorian, Grogu also helped to fight the Pykes in The Book of Boba Fett. At one point, Grogu helped destroy a Scorpenek droid while also using the Force to put a gigantic Rancor to sleep, again without collapsing from exhaustion himself.

As evidenced from The Mandalorian season 3, just because Grogu picked a life with Din over Luke and the Jedi, it doesn’t mean the child will stop utilizing his powers. With many hoping Grogu appears in Rey Skywalker’s New Jedi Order movie, it is likely his powers will continue to expand. From what has been seen of his power in The Mandalorian season 3, and Grogu’s species’ long life and incredible power with the Force, it is hard to imagine a future in which Grogu is not utilized as one of the more powerful Force users in Star Wars after the sequel era.
