First Look at Liam Hemsworth’s Geralt in ‘The Witcher’s Final Season Revealed

Production is currently underway on the final ever season of Netflix’s The Witcher adaptation, and some new leaked set photos have revealed Liam Hemsworth in action as Geralt of Rivia for the last time. The Australian actor was cast as the character when Henry Cavill stepped away from the show following Season 3. Fans will soon see Hemsworth in action for the first time in the upcoming fourth season (which is expected to release later this year), but we already have a glimpse at Hemsworth’s final moments as Geralt.
The new set photos come to us via Redanian Intelligence on Instagram. Season 5 is currently in production in England, and the new photos have given us our first look at Liam Hemsworth in full Geralt of Rivia make-up and costume in the final season. In the images, Hemsworth is also covered in dirt and grime, meaning the scene they’re filming is either set during or after a big battle. Eagle-eyed fans will also notice that Geralt is wearing a different sword in the scene than the one he has used throughout the first three seasons. In the books, Geralt is gifted a new sword by Zoltan (who will debut in Season 4), leading many to believe that scene will happen in either Season 4 or 5.
Various set photos have leaked from Season 5’s productions. The biggest revelation from the photos so far was Laurence Fishburne’s character in Seasons 4 and 5. The Matrix star will play Regis in the last two seasons. In the books, Regis is a pacifistic Higher Vampire who becomes a very close ally of Geralt’s during the mission to find Ciri (Freya Allen). More recently, photos also revealed Joey Batey’s return as Jaskier in the final season, still with his questionable haircut.

Despite heavy criticism from fans of Andrzej Sapkowski’s novels and CDProjektRed’s video games, Netflix’s The Witcher has still been a strong commercial success. However, the loss of Henry Cavill following Season 3 appears to have hit the series hard. Many fans have decreed that they will not watch the final two seasons without Cavill leading the charge as Geralt, and Netflix is swiftly trying to tie up any loose threads within the franchise.
Following Liam Hemsworth’s casting, Netflix then announced that the series would come to an end after Seasons 4 and 5. The series still has three novels’ worth of story to get through before the end, and it will have the tough time of condensing it all into two seasons, especially as the final two books are the longest in the series.
But the core The Witcher series isn’t the only part of the franchise that’s quickly coming to an end. Two more The Witcher spin-offs were also in the works at Netflix. While one was, and shall forever remain untitled, the second was a spin-off following The Rats, the group of outlaws Ciri became a part of at the end of Season 3. The spin-off was canceled during its production, and some of the sets have been repurposed for The Witcher‘s final season.
