First Look at Geralt in The Witcher Season 5 (Exclusive)

The fifth and final season of Netflix’s The Witcher is in full swing with location shoots taking place in England as we speak. Very recently we shared a few glimpses of filming with Liam Hemsworth’s and Laurence Fishburne’s body doubles. Now we have the real actors.
Geralt captured on camera in his final season

It was quite a trick capturing Liam Hemsworth on camera this time around. He had not one, not two, but three body doubles on location and it was confusing for the photographer. Nevertheless, after a few tries, we finally have our first look at Liam Hemsworth as Geralt of Rivia in The Witcher Season 5.
As we mentioned previously, and as you saw in the videos, there were knights riding on horses and asking about Geralt of Rivia. They are Queen Meve’s men, who were sent to capture Geralt and his friends because they deserted the queen’s army earlier.
The field is filled with beehives and beekeepers, indicating that this is a variation of scenes from Andrzej Sapkowski’s Tower of the Swallow where Geralt and his Hansa encounter beekeepers who send them in the right direction of druids. As druid costumes were seen on the set, this is definitely that sequence of events.

As we all can see, Geralt also has a new sword with red and gold hilt. It’s very likely the sihil that Zoltan gifted him. That would have happened either earlier in Season 5 or alternatively sometime in Season 4.
Next up, Hansa:
Geralt’s Hansa returns with first good looks at Cahir, Regis and Milva

Here’s our first good looks at Eamon Farren as Cahir, the not-Nilfgaardian, who joins Geralt’s Hansa sometime in Season 4, much to Geralt’s displeasure initially. As you can see, Cahir has had an outfit change. No more wrinkled armors, no more golden armors, no more pyjamas. Just plain inconspicuous clothing for the road.
Next we have Laurence Fishburne as Emiel Regis. Netflix marketed him as a man with a “mysterious past”, but we all know he’s a vampire. He also joins the Hansa sometime in The Witcher Season 4. We already had two photos of Fishburne as Regis before, but this one is the best quality yet.

Next we have Meng’er Zhang as Milva. She was introduced back in the last episodes of Season 3 with Henry Cavill and will continue her journey with Liam Hemsworth’s Geralt now. Milva didn’t see any outfit changes, so we’ll see her look the same throughout the two final seasons.

And of course Joey Batey as Jaskier, who we’ve already shown before. The bard also retains his look from that he got back in the second season.

Geralt’s Hansa fights Queen Meve’s men

Now to the meat of the topic, what have they all been filming last week. In the finale of Season 4, Geralt and Hansa help Queen Meve of Lyria and Rivia fight against Nilfgaardian troops. For that the queen of Rivia makes Geralt officially a knight of Rivia. Geralt. Of Rivia.
Unfortunately, Geralt has a quest to find Ciri, so he an Hansa desert the queen’s army and now Meve’s men pursue them. Finally, they reach the deserters in this field with beehives and beekeepers. It doesn’t end well for Meve’s men.

We can see Geralt and Hansa fight Meve’s men, who are led by Gareth David-Lloyd. We suspect he plays Reynard Odo, Meve’s most trusted man. He returns from Season 4 as we already reported of his casting last year, also suggesting he could be playing Odo. Now it looks even more likely.
Before the fight breaks out, it seems that there is at least some attempt to settle things without violence, though. See below how they’ll lined up against each other.

Cahir, Milva and Regis also fight, naturally. Jaskier, not so much, though he does seem to have one of the soldiers attack him in one of the shots.

All of this seems to happen in the first block of Season 5, meaning episodes 1 or 2, so quite early.
As you can see, there’s no Zoltan or Angouleme. Danny Woodburn‘s Zoltan and his band already went their own way, while the Hansa hasn’t met Angouleme yet. It is a question, whether the show will even introduce Angouleme this late in the series.

But the cast seemed to have a good time as we can see in one of the shots Eamon Farren seems to be teasing Laurence Fishburne about something, like an uncle.

In the shot above, we can see them rehearsing the fight with Liam’s stunt double Joel Adrian also on standby. If you remember, Adrian played a witcher called Hemrik in Season 2. Geralt’s other double, Neil Bishop, was also on site, hence the photographer being a little confused on who he got each time. There was a third double, you can see him in the gallery below, but we don’t know what does he do.
In the books, the beekeepers point Geralt to druids. It seems that the sequence in question got a little condensed as we can see a druid already on the field, so they all meet the druids right there and then.
