The Witcher’s Yennefer, Anya Chalotra, was brought to tears upon learning that Henry Cavill was leaving the Netflix show

Chalotra, who returns to The Witcher season 4 recently got candid about her feelings regarding the exit of her costar Cavill. But let’s be clear from the jump – at no point does the on-screen Yennefer disparage Liam Hemsworth

You weren’t the only one who was upset to find out that Henry Cavill was leaving The Witcher. His castmates on the megahit Netflix dark fantasy series were also pretty bummed. In fact, on-screen romantic interest Anya Chalotra, who plays Yennefer, recently revealed that the news of the future Highlander’s departure was such a blow, it brought her to tears.

The quote comes from an interview that Chalotra recently did with Entertainment Weekly, published September 25. In it, the actor joins her costars for the upcoming Witcher season 4 to promote the show’s next chapter, which will (appropriately) be debuting this Halloween season.

“I cried,” Chalotra told her interviewer, “I remember it so vividly. It really impacted me. We were so bonded to these people, and to lose such an important member of the team… I’ve put everything into this character. I started [Witcher] having not much work under my belt, and this show means the world to me. So it hurt.”

In case you’re missing the context here (and because this is the internet, after all), what Chalotra does not seem to be saying is that she was upset by Liam Hemsworth stepping into the role of Geralt of Rivia, especially since, at the time she’s describing, we can’t confirm that Cavill’s replacement is known. Instead, Chalotra is merely mourning the loss of an ally on a set she values.
