“Be Patient With Us”: Laurence Fishburne Gives an Eager Update on ‘The Witcher’ Season 5 Ahead of Season 4 [Exclusive]

He first appears in Baptism of Fire and becomes a vital part of Geralt’s group in later books. Fishburne’s casting was officially announced in early 2024, and the veteran actor will bring the character to life opposite Liam Hemsworth, who takes over as Geralt of Rivia in Season 4 from Henry Cavill. When Weintraub asked Fishburne about the progress of the show, he gave a quick answer and asked fans to give them time. He told Collider:
“[Regarding] The Witcher, folks are going to have to just be patient with us. We’re starting Season 5 now. I will start when I leave here today. I go and I start filming.”
How Many More Seasons of ‘The Witcher’ Are We Getting?
Netflix previously confirmed that The Witcher will conclude with Season 5. That final season is, as per Fishburne’s comments, shooting back to back with Season 4 and is set to adapt the remaining books in the saga, leading up to the end of Ciri’s long and brutal journey. Fishburne called the opportunity to join The Witcher a thrilling one, saying in a previous statement, “I’m very excited to be joining the cast and look forward to exploring the wondrous world of The Witcher.” The good news is, from what Fishburne has said, it seems fans won’t have to wait long to see him bring one of the franchise’s most intriguing characters to life.
Also returning for the next season are Anya Chalotra as Yennefer of Vengerberg, Freya Allan as Princess Ciri, Joey Batey as Jaskier, Bart Edwards as Emhyr van Emreis, and Mahesh Jadu as Vilgefortz of Roggeveen along with many new faces.
