Coronation Street icon wraps filming after 25 years

Coronation Street’s Sue Cleaver has reportedly filmed her final scenes.

The actress, who portrays Eileen Grimshaw in the ITV soap, confirmed she’d be saying goodbye to the role and ’embrace change’ as she ‘reached [her] 60th year’.
Speaking about her time on the cobbles, Sue said: ‘I’ve had 25 privileged years of working on Coronation Street.’
‘The door is still firmly open, but as I reached my 60th year, I decided it was time to embrace change, look for new adventures, and live fearlessly.’
It is understood that she made the decision in the summer, after her appearance in the Sister Act musical tour. She returned to the stage for the first time in about three decades.
Now, according to The Sun, Sue Cleaver has filmed her last scenes as Eileen, meaning it won’t be long until she departs the cobbles.
As part of Eileen’s final storyline, her sister Julie Carp (Katy Cavanagh) has returned.
The beloved character revealed to Eileen and Todd (Gareth Pierce) that she is living with stage four cancer. The duo have now decided to help Julie live her life to the absolute full.
Before Eileen waves goodbye to Weatherfield, she will also be treated to a return in the form of her other son Jason (Ryan Thomas).

Discussing Sue’s departure, and the history of Eileen, producer of the show Kate Brooks said: ‘We’re sad to bid farewell to the wonderful Sue Cleaver.
‘Over the past 25 years, Eileen Grimshaw has been at the heart of some of the most memorable and iconic Corrie storylines, and her onscreen rivalry with Gail Platt will undoubtedly go down in Corrie folklore.
‘There’s certainly no one quite like Eileen, and her character will be hugely missed on the cobbles. We wish Sue all the very best as she embarks on her next exciting chapter.’
