Coronation Street star Kimberly Hart-Simpson discusses possible return as Nicky Wheatley
“Nobody knows what the future holds.”
Coronation Street star Kimberly Hart-Simpson has discussed the possibility of Nicky Wheatley making a return to the cobbles.
Speaking to The Express about her character, who last appeared on the soap back in 2022, Hart-Simpson said she would “love” to reprise the role of Nicky should the opportunity come about.
“I mean I have returned. I would absolutely love to go back there of course,” the actress said, adding: “And I’m not dead yet so.
“Nobody knows what the future holds, but I absolutely loved my time there.”
Hart-Simpson was cast in Coronation Street back in 2020, with her character Nicky being involved in a storyline which saw widower Daniel Osbourne hire a sex worker in order to cope with the death of his wife, Sinead.
The actress later reprised her role in 2022, where Nicky found herself involved in a love triangle with Daniel and his new girlfriend Daisy Midgley after landing a job as a teaching assistant at Weatherfield High.
However, the actress later confirmed that she had exited the soap again following the completion of her storyline just a few months later.
Confirming her exit at the time, a spokesperson told Digital Spy that Hart-Simpson had finished filming but “that’s not to say we might not see her pop up in Weatherfield again in the future”.
Following her second exit from the soap, Hart-Simpson revealed that she had been “forever grateful” to ITV for bringing her character back. Since leaving Coronation Street, the actress has gone on to join the cast of Brassic for its fifth season.
Meanwhile on the cobbles, Daniel and Daisy have faced further turmoil in their relationship since Nicky’s exit – with upcoming scenes set to see the pair split up after Daniel discovered Daisy’s affair with Ryan Connor.
