Coronation Street star ‘thought life was over’ after being axed from show
Former Coronation Street star Ellie Leach has opened up about leaving the ITV soap and how initially, she worried her ‘life’ was ‘over’.
The actress left the show as Faye Windass last year. When her daughter Miley and ex-boyfriend Jackson returned to her life, Faye chose to leave Weatherfield to start afresh with her little family.
Shortly after the departure, Ellie went on to star in BBC One’s Strictly Come Dancing and eventually won the series.
Now, the beloved face features alongside Casualty’s Jason Durr in the theatre production of Cluedo 2.
While Ellie has been extremely busy since leaving the ITV soap, being told she would be leaving Corrie after playing her character for over 10 years certainly left her fearful of the future.
Speaking in the latest episode of ITVBe’s Drama Queens, Ellie reflected on the year she’s had after saying goodbye to Coronation Street.
‘I can’t believe I left Corrie like nearly a year ago. It was just after my birthday wasn’t it?’, she said during a chat with her parents.
‘And to think that when I left Corrie I kind of was like, “I don’t know what I’m going do, I’m really scared and I don’t know what’s gonna happen”.’
During her solo chat to the camera, Ellie went on to say: ‘On Corrie when I got told that they had a storyline for me but it was gonna be an exit storyline, obviously I was like, “Oh my god, my life’s over”. I was like, “I don’t have anything. I don’t have a job and I don’t know when the next was gonna come, if the next one is gonna come”.’
She added: ‘And thank god Strictly came a couple of weeks after, but it is kind of like a blessing in disguise. Cause if that didn’t happen, then I wouldn’t have had the year that I’ve had.’
Also in the most recent episode of Drama Queens, Hollyoaks star Jorgie Porter revealed the wonderful news that she’s pregnant with her second child.
Jorgie and partner Ollie welcomed their first baby Forest back in 2022. A year prior, the couple went through a devastating ordeal when Jorgie miscarried quadruplets at 14 weeks pregnant.
