As Season 27 of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit continues to deliver high-octane investigations and adrenaline-fueled courtroom showdowns, many viewers have found themselves missing a certain squad room staple: Ice T’s beloved Fin Tutuola. But rest assured, Ice T has confirmed the steadfast sergeant will return very soon.
Fin’s latest storyline has pulled him away from his longtime post at the 16th Precinct after the SVU fan-favorite was brutally attacked in the Season 27 premiere. This led to a lengthy physical rehabilitation and even more challenging mental game after Fin struggled to regain his bearings at the SVU. Captain Olivia Benson (Mariska Hargitay) only wants the best for her cherished sergeant, encouraging Fin to take however much time he needed before returning full-time. Fin has popped in to help the squad from time to time, but fans have been missing the SVU icon as the elite squad tackles whatever harrowing case comes their way.
After a distinct lack of quippy SVU one-liners, fans are in luck as Ice T’s beloved character will return in the final episodes of SVU Season 27. Throughout it all, Ice T has taken to social media to connect with fans over his triumphant return, promising to end the season “with a bang.”
Ice T revealed Sgt. Fin Tutuola will be in the final episodes of SVU Season 27
Amid his return to set, Ice T shared some behind-the-scenes highlights with his SVU besties. Sergeants Amanda Rollins (Kelli Giddish) and Fin Tutuola are back in action, promising plenty of headaches for the final perps of the season.
“Back on the set with Kelli.. Lots of Fin in the last 3 episodes of Season 27…,” Ice T revealed in a March 2026 Instagram post, which featured a sweet photo with Giddish and several exciting snapshots of episodes still to come on SVU. Rollins and Tutuola look ready to close another heinous case, but the BTS excitement doesn’t end there. Benson and Fin are also back in action.
The SVU icon snapped a picture with his longtime squad room ride-or-die, teasing he was giving fans what they wanted with the heartwarming selfie with Hargitay. “Back filming the last 3 episodes of this SVU season…” Ice T captioned the photo of him and Hargitay, who looked so darling wearing glasses between takes. “Whenever I post a SVU pic, someone always says.. “Where’s Mariska?” lol.”

Olivia Benson and her fearless squad are back in Law & Order: Special Victims Unit Season 27, with new episodes airing on Thursdays at 9/8c on NBC and the next day on Peacock.
Season 27 stars Mariska Hargitay, Ice T, Peter Scanavino, Kelli Giddish, Kevin Kane, and Aimé Donna Kelly, as well as SVU newcomer Corey Cott.
This season, Benson continues her command of the Manhattan SVU as she crosses paths with a dynamite line-up of guest stars including Jemima Kirke and Danielle MacDonald. Plus, Season 27 has marked the long-awaited return of Sgt. Rollins.

The SVU star previously updated fans on his character’s whereabouts in another behind-the-scenes video, giving those “who’ve been worrying about Fin” some appreciated peace of mind over the sergeant’s future.
“I am on the last three episodes of the season,” Ice T told fans. “I know you guys have been waiting to see me back, but I’ve been doing a lot of other cool things. But in the meantime, yes, I’m on the set. We’re now shooting the last three episodes, that’s Episode 19, 20, and 21.”
“They saved me for the end, you know what I’m saying?” Ice T teased. “But thank you, for all the people out there that have been wanting to see more Fin on the show. But like I told you earlier, they said they were gonna sprinkle me through the season. Here we are, I’m bringing up the rear, gonna make sure we go out with a bang.”
