ITV Coronation Street fans fume soap has gone ‘too far’ with sick dog twist amid Roy’s arrest
Coronation Street viewers were sickened as they said the Roy Cropper storyline’s latest twist “overstepped the mark”.
In the latest episode of the ITV soap, Roy’s little dog Freddie was kidnapped in a cruel twist, amid his arrest for the murder of Lauren Bolton. Roy is innocent of the crime despite being imprisoned, while we do not know for sure that Lauren is dead.
But a group of sleuths have decided Roy must be guilty and they have been targeting him online. Now, someone has kidnapped his dog Freddie in a cruel twist, with threats made against his life.
They’re trying to force a confession out of Roy for Lauren’s murder, amid others digging in the park where Freddie was taken in case Lauren’s body is buried there. Fans have already been fuming with the storyline and Roy’s arrest, but some have said Freddie’s kidnapping is a step too far.
Sam Blakeman had been walking the dog before he suddenly went missing, leaving Sam devastated. Suddenly there was a video uploaded that was seen by Roy’s loved ones.
The video showed Freddie trapped in a crate or kennel, and in the footage he was walking around the tiny area. The person talking was heard saying Freddie had been found digging in the park and that it might be where Lauren has been ‘buried’.
Not only that, but they warned that Freddie would not be released until his owner Roy confessed to Lauren’s murder. They hinted that harm would come to Freddie if this did not happen, claiming it was “justice for Lauren”.
Viewers were horrified by the scenes, taking to X to share their disgust at the twist. Some fans said it was “too far” as they called for the safe return of the pooch, and for the release of innocent Roy.
One fan posted: “How could Corrie stoop so low let Freddie go.” Another fan said: “Roy’s one thing but Freddie the dog that’s on another level!!! Grrrrr,” as a third added: “Locking Roy Cropper up is bad enough but bringing Freddie into it is the mark of a warped mind.”
A fourth viewer commented: “Not having that… do what you like to a human, but leave the f***ing dog alone …. #Corrie Free #Freddie Free #Roy Corrie has over stepped the mark here.” A further comment read: “First Toyah’s baby storyline and now Freddie’s been dognapped! What is happening to my fave soap?!” as another said: “Don’t care what happens but leave poor Freddie out of it.”
