ITV Coronation Street star hints he could quit soap after ‘tough time’
Sam has teased departing the ITV soap as Adam amid Sarah Platt’s romance with Damon.
ITV Coronation Street star Sam Robertson has hinted Adam Barlow could QUIT the soap. Sam has teased departing the ITV soap as Adam amid Sarah Platt’s romance with Damon.
Coronation Street actor Sam said: “It’s tough and it’s challenging to play out but it’s important to show how stress can get on top of anyone. It’s a tough time for Adam – he’s fighting off issues left, right and centre.” He added: “I think so.
“He’s overwhelmed by the stress of it all and it suddenly catches up with him at work. Everything just seems to be imploding but he’s his own boss, he knows he can’t just check out and have a week off to get his head straight, but he’s struggling to work through it.”
On whether the scenes could lead to the end of Sarah and Adam’s marriage, and an exit, he revealed what might happen if Adam is not the baby’s father. He teased: “I think he would find it too hard and that could be the end.
“If he sees Sarah living on the street, walking around with a baby, that’s going to be tough. He’s been a good stepdad to Harry but that’s a different set of circumstances.”
“I would have loved to see them growing their family and living happily together,” Sam recently added. Sarah has discovered she is pregnant with her second child – but doesn’t know who the dad is.
Referencing working with Tina O’Brien, who plays Sarah, Sam added: “I love working with Tina, I think she’s great. But obviously the writing team and the audience want to see that conflict. If they do stay together I just pray they have a period of time where the relationship is tender again and they can be kind to each other and be happy.”
