Law & Order Rollins Spinoff Potential Addressed By Kelli Giddish: “Keep Talking About It”

Law & Order: SVU alum Kelli Giddish enthusiastically addresses the chances of a spinoff focused on Amanda Rollins. Following her headline-grabbing exit from SVU during season 24, Giddish returned in a guest-starring capacity. Though she has a featured recurring role in the recently debuted season 26, the specifics of her storyline have led to questions about whether Rollins might lead her own spinoff.

Giddish addressed the possibility in an interview with Screen Rant’s Rachel Foertsch, saying that she feels flattered that fans of her character are pushing for a spinoff. The actor does not discuss whether a Rollins-focused spinoff will happen, but she encourages people to “keep talking about it.” Read the quote below:

I’m so flattered to hear that that’s something that people have been even talking about. That’s really, really sweet. So keep talking about it.

What A Rollins Spinoff Would Mean For SVU

In the latest episodes of SVU season 26, which air at 9 PM ET on NBC and stream on Peacock, Rollins leads NYPD’s Intelligence Unit. Although the number of episodes Giddish will be in is unspecified, executive producer Julie Martin has said that the fan-favorite character will make several appearances. Rollins’ arc is a continuation of a story that began with her shift to a guest role, as she felt unsatisfied working as a professor and would invest in trying to help Olivia Benson (Mariska Hargitay) solve cases.

Law & Order has attempted to do a character-focused spinoff recently, with Christopher Meloni making his way back to the franchise for the Stabler-focused Law & Order: Organized Crime. Although it is not the same level of success as other Law & Order series, with season 5 moving to Peacock, it has enjoyed a respectable run and deepened a character that Meloni has portrayed for decades.

Our Take On A Rollins Spinoff

The more muted response to Organized Crime is something that executives at NBC and Dick Wolf Entertainment will likely keep in mind before giving the green light to another character-focused. But considering how beloved Giddish became within the Law & Order: SVU world, with Hargitay fighting to keep her as a series regular, there could be something to explore. There’s no shortage of stories, in any case, which is helped by Rollins’ relationship with Carisi (Peter Scanavino), another aspect that viewers enjoy.
