Law & Order Season 24 Story Update Reveals Feud Between Benson & New Character In Crossover Episode
A Law & Order season 24 story update reveals an upcoming feud between Law & Order: SVU’s Olivia Benson (Mariska Hargitay) and a new character in a crossover episode. It was previously reported that Law & Order season 24 will add Maura Tierney (NewsRadio) to the cast as Lieutenant Jessica Brady, a newcomer to the 27th Precinct following the departure of Kate Dixon (Camryn Manheim). Not much is known about her character, other than she is dedicated to her job much like everyone else working the weekly cases presented throughout the crime series.
Now, Entertainment Weekly has confirmed with Tierney that conflict between Brady and Hargitay’s Benson will spark in an upcoming crossover episode during Law & Order season 24. After explaining how her character would be introduced in an AI-focused murder mystery episode, the newcomer to the franchise hinted at the divide between the two as they’re forced to work on a case together, describing their feud as a disagreement for this particular episode. Check out what Tierney had to say below:
It was fun to sort of get into it with her a little bit. We are not besties. I don’t think there’s animosity, but in this particular episode, they don’t agree!
What Benson’s Feud With Tierney’s Character Means For Law & Order Season 24
Tierney is no stranger to portraying a character on the legal drama, having previously appeared in season 2 as as Patti Blane, a woman testifying against her mother who forced her into making pornography. Her return will be in a very different role, with her first episode focused on a murder involving an AI-based dating app. However, no details have been revealed about the crossover case with Law & Order: SVU season 26, nor what about it will cause conflict between Benson and Brady.
Given that team conflicts have happened in the past coupled with Tierney’s statement, it doesn’t sound like the pair are going to be at each other’s throats forever regarding the case. However, this first impressi on of one another could hint at how intense the next Law & Order crossover will be, containing a case that’s not as easy to discuss as it could seem on the surface. Even so, the duo’s standing as important figureheads in New York City’s legal system means no matter their disagreements with each other, they’ll both believe what they’re doing is best for the case.
Our Thoughts On Benson & Brady’s Upcoming Feud
Benson and Brady feuding during the first time they meet means their relationship is going to start off on the wrong foot, requiring plenty of time before they’re able to see eye-to-eye. Even so, Tierney’s statement indicates their brief spat won’t be the end of their time in the Law & Order universe together, meaning they could still be on friendly terms at some point in the future. But, with an intense meeting now teased, we’re curious about what has them disagreeing, and which one of them ends up resolving the case.
