Major Coronation Street character returns to news of a s/h/o/ck d/e/a/th
Gemma Winter-Brown (Dolly-Rose Campbell) returns to Coronation Street later this month to learn some sad news.
The character has been on a break from the cobbles in recent weeks, following a tough few months, which saw Paul Foreman (Peter Ash) die.
Her husband Chesney Brown (Sam Aston) has struggled in her absence, dealing with a suspicious man in a van who has been following him.
He has also been unable to come to terms with the death of his former stepdad Les Battersby (Bruce Jones), who died off-screen last month.
When Gemma returns home, she is put out to realise that Chesney kept quiet about Les’ death.
She also learns about the offer from the abattoir where Les worked, and how they are prepared to compensate Chesney, Les’ daughter Leanne Battersby (Jane Danson) and stepdaughter Toyah Battersby (Georgia Taylor).
Forthcoming scenes see Leanne and Toyah tell Chesney that Les’s employer has increased their offer to £60k but if they accept, they need to sign an NDA.
Chesney has so far been reluctant to engage with the compensation, but Gemma urges him to accept the latest offer – what will he do?
He also has another encounter with the mystery van man next week, following him to Freshco car park after clocking him across the street.
Chesney slips behind the van and pulls out a bag of sugar – what is he up to?
